Seattle University (Seattle U) BSN Fall 2021

Published

Hi everyone, it might be a little early but I wanted to start a forum for SU's 2021 BSN applicants! I'm applying as a transfer student from a community college in California. I'm curious about everyone else's experience as a pre-nursing student and the schools they plan on applying to.

I've yet to complete my organic Chemistry course (my school doesn't offer one course with both organic and inorganic) and my pre-calculus course to satisfy the prerequisites. Right now I'm trying to find volunteer work, but with the pandemic, there's not much out there.

Feel free to share anything, I'm super curious about everyone's stats!

@Anhton I don't feel like mine went stellar, I was very nervous and chocked up once or twice. Feel discouraged about my performance, I reflected on the things that well in the interview and reminded my self that they are looking for reason to admit you, not deny you.  I see you are a CNA! I feel that will give you a step up! Remember the things that got you here (:!

I didn't ask how many people they interviewed this year but I am really curious myself! Did anyone ask?

Thank you for encouraging me! Now just hope for the best hahaaa.

I counted on the website the day I get the invitation email, there are only 108 spots. So I don’t know if they decrease the amount of transfer students or not.

Hey,

Dose anyone know how they proceed with the application reviews once interviews are over? Do they now just take our interview notes and go off of there or do they continue to do a holistic review? What's your thoughts and or facts?

@BSNPROSPECTS I asked what the next steps were and the Dean said the interview is just one data point, they go over everything now, the transcripts, essays, etc and make their final decisions.

Is anyone interested in sharing their stats? I'm curious to learn about everyone's background! Reading past forms, people who get admitted have a variety of different backgrounds (GPA, experience, etc.)! Seattle U does look at all of us holistically ? !

Hi @BSNPROSPECTS I currently have a 3.81 GPA, I had a 3.84 GPA at the time I applied to SU, but it went down because of Ochem so hopefully that doesn’t affect it. This quarter is my last quarter at highline college, I’ll be done with my prerequisites! I’ve been working as a CNA since December of 2019 at a nursing home and recently I also started a job as a CNA in a hospital on the medsurg unit.

@BSNPROSPECTS hello! I currently have a 3.45 and I am finishing my last prerequisite this quarter which is OCHEM. I am a first-gen college student and I currently work as a CNA at a surgery center.

I'm so anxious about the admissions. I feel pretty good about my interview but my GPA is not really competitive so I pray that I have a good chance of getting into the program.

I have a 3.8 pre-req GPA and I was in an occupational therapy assistant program for two semesters. My cohort and I actually helped the LPN students with their skill check offs so that led the way for me to pursue nursing.
I think if I don’t get in this year I’m going to get my EMT certificate and apply again next year.

Wow, you all have great backgrounds!

I have 9/10 pre-requisites complete with a 3.7/3.8 GPA. I got my CNA years ago but worked as a caregiver for 2 kids (I didn't work at a nursing home or hospital). I currently hold a management position were I do a lot of community out reach and oversee / teach American Red Cross courses like CPR. I currently have my NAR (Nursing Assistant Registration) as I try to obtain my NAC to quality for the state exam. COVID has made the CNA process more difficult. I'm a bit worried about not having my CNA.

@Andreya11 I think a 3.4 is good! I believe your CNA experience will continue to make you a great candidate for nursing!

@BSNPROSPECTS
Hello! Sounds like everyone has great GPAs AND helpful backgrounds!

I'm just finishing up Micro and Nutrition right now. I have a 4.0 but not much healthcare experience and no prior degrees. At the time of the application I think I had 80-100 volunteer hours, I'm at 150 now. My main career prior to this was in the arts and I have worked in fitness for ten years and with a lot of injured clients.

@ohaimegan I'm also planning on doing an EMT cert if I don't get into any the programs I've applied to!

Hello everyone,

Dose anyone have a estimate of when they will send decisions? At the interview they said in the middle of March. It seems that colleges send out notices on Fridays in the evening. I'm thinking we will be notified on the 19th or the 26th. Dose anyone have anymore information?

Hey Everyone!

My name is Elizabeth and I am a Running Start student here in the Seattle area. I just officially committed to Seattle University's two-year nursing cohort starting this fall! I know the timeline for admissions decisions is different for transfer students, but I just wanted to reach out and say how excited I am to be working with you guys!
