I've been a reader of these message boards for some time and thought I'd finally start participating. I didn't see a thread for the SU APNI 2011 application process, so I thought that as the deadline is this week I would start a thread and see how everyone's process went. I'm interested in the primary care np track myself.
I am really concern, if SeattleU selects some of u. What kind of comments are these? You are questioning others english. You are telling person what to dream?
Are you going to work as a health care professional . I remind you to look around you. Our society has people from all kind of backgrounds. They will be your patients. I am sadden to hear, people are thinking that way and hide behind computer.
I think, Lolita is graduated from university with Medical Degree. Remember, she has to pass ToFEL, GRE to be even consider for this program. I think, if she is on waiting list, that means, she has pretty good grades on those 2 tests. Last time, i checked, GRE and TOFEL have english part.
I think, everyone needs to chill out.
Lolita- You should talk to the school and ignore some of the comments.
I think I am being misunderstood, I wasn't questioning her English. English is a very tough language. I'm a native speaker and even I had lots of people look over my essays. It seems like lolitabig is a very competitive applicant, and the only thing I can think of is a grammatical or spelling error that may have slipped passed in their essays. The poster seemed upset about the decision made, as well as bewildered (as am I, seeing as she has an M.D., very impressive, no matter where it was acquired). I am simply offering, hopefully useful, advice as a person who has undergone many application processes in the U.S.
I don't know about each track, but when I asked how big the midwifery cohort was she said its about ten, but that includes people who are already RNs, so I'm guessing about 5-7 midwifery, which leaves 45-43 spread between the other specialties. The website says the APNI program is about 50 altogether. I'm totally losing it waiting. I was so nervous during my interview that I hope I wasn't rambling. hahaha
I am sure you did wonderfully on your interview! I have my interview next week and as you can guess, I am extremely nervous. How long did your interview last? Just want to see how the interview will be structure.
Thanks for any feedback!!
They told me I'm on the waitlist which to me is a rejection. Why in the world would they do that to me? I have everything I guess! I'm so devestated and been crying for the past 4 hrs. They couldn't give me any good reasons just liek maybe yr letter of intent wasn't good enough! I don't know how can I survive this.....As in all prereqs, medical back ground, patient exposure and......and comments guys?
I am terribly sorry that you have been put on the waitlist, though that confuses me a little. There is a waitlist for interviews?? From your posts, it sounds like you are a very strong applicant. I wish you the best, and hopefully you'll be interviewing soon! By the way, what track did you apply to? Sorry if you posted the info already. This whole process is quite ambiguous because no one really tells you exactly why the decisions were made the way they were!
MSW,
The stupid thing is that they put me on the wait list for interview!! which as we all know is a rejection. I've applied to AGNP,they tell me I'm a strong candidate or bla bla but the reality is if I were I would have gotten an interview. I think I am and the interesting part is that they put a plan for me 8 month ago and I followed every step but as u see.....maybe my medical background works against me I don't know?! I was there yesterday, they couldn't give me answers why I'm not having an IV. My plan is to talk to the Dean and a faculty member in person to know hat should I honestly do?Cause I thought I had it all. You can't imagine how heart breaking it's for me. I only applied to this school since my husband works here and I was so sure I can make if I target it right. They had 300 applications and Gave out 100 IVs for 50 spots. It's not bad at all, the fact that I couldn't be in that 100/300 is killing me, It's not like 5000 applications only 300. 1/6 chance is good! And I don't believe that all 300 were qualified. People to put all yr balls in one basket because u will b strewed!
To Angelis,
I tried yr email but it bounced back. Can u plz email me at [email protected] what is yr educational background? tnx
To MSW,
Ya wait list for interview?!!! what does that mean?? I don't know, but I think it means rejection or goose chase!
They were telling me I'm a good applicant and bla bla. But if they believed as they said, I would have had an IV. Only 300 people have applied and they have sent out 100 IVs for 50 spots. 1/3 not bad at all! And what's killing me is that with my good application I couldn't make it to that 100?!!! How is that so? They put out a plan for me 8 month ago and I followed every step and yet..... Maybe my medical background works against me I don't know? I'm gonna see the Dean and a faculty in person to see what I should really do and add. I thought I had it all!
I applied only to this school since I thought I have a good shot. Don't ever put all yr balls in one basket you will be screwed!
To Angelis,
I tried yr email it bounced back. Can you plz email m at [email protected] and what's yr educational background?

Lolitabig--My heart goes out to you hearing your frustration with the whole process. Though I do not come from the same educational background as you, I can surely understand your need for an answer! Have they granted your request to talk with a faculty member in person? From your stats and medical background, you do sound like a strong applicant that would be great in the APNI program. I also want to point out that this is a very competitive program and I believe they receive way more qualified applicants than they have room for. Because there are so many qualified applicants, sometimes it just boils down to whether the applicants are a "good fit" for their program!
I hope you will get some answers soon!!

Yes knowonder? I am wondering why join the blog right now just to say something like this? Are you also an applicant, interview, no interview? Tell us where you stand?
