I've been a reader of these message boards for some time and thought I'd finally start participating. I didn't see a thread for the SU APNI 2011 application process, so I thought that as the deadline is this week I would start a thread and see how everyone's process went. I'm interested in the primary care np track myself.
Bannana,
Have u applied last year also? If yes, what happened? You know I have gone to Seattle u a couple of times in person in the whole process before I applied, they kinda know me. The fact that some have got interviews already really worries me. The don't pick up the phone. I also check my spam too... nothing....
Have you got interview yet? what track?
I just finished interviewing today thought it went well. Im sorry you dont have an interview yet. If it makes you feel any better this is my 3d time applying, my second time to interview, and the first time I feel like I have a real shot at getting in. Its so competetive! Good luck though. Keep trying thier phones too. The 1st time I got rejected someone was able to tell me on the phone so maybe if they cant tell you yet its good news.

What track did you apply to? Any suggestions for preparing for the interview?? Congratulation on a job well done on your interview!!!
Angelis,
You applied 3 times! Wow! I mean I have As in all my prereqs. I'm a doctor from another country and I got 100 on TOEFl ibt (they wanted 92). Honestly I don't know what they are after. I'm still waiting to hear back. I have tons of patient exposure and 2 yrs research experience in Oncology at UW. If they reject me(god forbidden) I won't be able to stand up!So what do you think made a difference in yr application this time? Plz those who already have interviews what are yr GPA and GREs like? Tnx
Well the first year I wasn't even done with half my prereq's but just applied for the hell of it. I also have A's in my prereqs and a 3.72 GPA and when I interviewed last year and didn't get in I talked to Prof Carr. She let me know to maybe do shadows and more volunteering. So this past year I did 2 job shadows and have volunteering at a non-profit retirement community and hospice. I have also volunteered in my past. They take thier mission statement very seriously so be sure to emphasize that in the interview. Also, I appled for the GNP track and it was 2 people interviewing me as well as last year. Thats crazy you still haven't heard back yet becuase with all of your exposure it seems as though you would be a shoe in!
Tnx Angelis for your response. You can't believe this but I can feel my tears coming, I mean I haven't heard anything yet but just so worried. You know I talked to docotor Desocio in Summer in person and also attended their session in Sep. she told me what to do and she said they would be happy to have me. But as you know, you never know until it's a done deal. I'm very impatient and I applied in November. so it's killing me that some people have already got interviews. Well, to me u have it all too. I think the latest they will call is till the end if next week. Dr. DeSocio suggested AGNP and I was intersted in that so applied to that specialty. I'm keeping my fingers cross and we'll see.R u from Seattle?
I've cried a lot the last two years over all this stress as well, and Im not in yet. Last year I refused to give up and reached out to prof Carr and had two meetings with her telling her why I would be a good fit and what I can do to do better. If I were you I would reach out to that same prof you talked to and email her and tell her your concerns and who you can talk to, to get a chance at interviewing. You never know, if theyve already decided not to interview you and you reach out they may always have the chance to change thier minds at this point. In any case, I know your pain and I am sorry.

Firstly, check your spam folder....interview invite may have ended up there. Also I remember from last year some people got interviews very late. so don't worry yet. don't worry at all. there's nothing you can do about any of it as of right now.
