I've been a reader of these message boards for some time and thought I'd finally start participating. I didn't see a thread for the SU APNI 2011 application process, so I thought that as the deadline is this week I would start a thread and see how everyone's process went. I'm interested in the primary care np track myself.
I got the same email around the same time that you must have received yours. Nothing in the mail yet. I feel that this is probably an automated message that was scheduled to be sent out after decisions were made. Since statuses began changing last Friday, but they were slow in mailing letters/packages, I think that there's a pretty good chance this is a good thing!
Flaneur and mef06011, that email is definitely good news. I am sure it means that the both of you will be receiving your acceptance letters very soon!! Just checked my email and did not receive anything..

I think tomorow will be a very informative day for a lot of people. I'm quite confident that everyone who will be receiving that email about the survey didn't get it today. I think it very much has to do with "x" amount of days since they entered your status into the computer, and all FNP decisions were made the latest. The reason I think this is because I sincerely doubt that they intended those emails to arrive before snail mail decisions did. If these emails were sent as a group, someone would have had to schedule them and make the decision that today was the day to send them--before everyone received decisions.
I think everything about this admissions process is pretty arbitrary and hard to read. I think the emails are lucky flukes, but they mean nothing else for anyone awaiting snail mail. Also, I interviewed relatively early on Feb 4th, which may have something (or nothing to do with it).
Just a thought: according to the USPS website, mail from SU's zip code (whether mailed on Thurs or Fri) is "estimated" to arrive here in Richmond, VA on Monday. I think we'll all know a lot more tomorrow. mef06011 and I perhaps just got some random, dumb luck to (probably, I still have no letter) hear a day early.
Stay positive! This is far from over, y'all.
I'm on the fence about "luck"...I really don't believe in it. I bet there is nothing "lucky" about that email that you got...and that they actually intended, as you said, for the snail mail to get there before they sent out the email. Just hang in there...and don't get caught stalking your mail person...
I literally was avoiding my mail all day on Friday, and then eventually ran out of distractions and had to go home and check my mail...needless to say, I was crying when I got to the mailbox itself (pathetic isn't it)...
Best wishes everyone...in the meantime, hang in there...and do something nice for yourself.

Agreed. Perhaps "fluke" is a better description than "luck".
Excited for those of you who received the e-mail but bummed that I didn't. I think this means I will be waiting for a small envelope. . . sad day. Keep us posted as your letters arrive!
I don't agree beebopdre. :-) Since this must be an unintenional timing of the emails, it had to have been automated. There's no way someone from Grad Admissions went in at 7:00am on a Sunday to send out emails to people who they know wouldn't have recieved snail mail yet. The logical answer is that those emails are generated based on when they entered stuff into the computer, and we know that has been going on for several days. We kept seeing different changes all over the place and no news has been uniformly given to everyone at the same time. I just don't see how this would be the one time that emails/news would be sent out to everyone at the same time.
I dont want to over-post on here or anything, but I strongly believe there's no reason to make deductions now, and I think many people will get large envelopes, despite having not yet recieved the email. That's how they intended it to be, right? Those emails weren't intended to be new "news". The process got messed up for a few applicants, is all.
This forum is comprised of really capable and invested applicants, and I just wanted to give my authentic opinion in hopes that the mood on here doesn't get too blue. None of us will actually know until we have letters in our hands.
I agree, there's no way only two of us received that e-mail because we are the only two admitted. My status was one of the first to change AND I interviewed on Feb. 1st. And it would take one hell of a dedicated admissions officer to go in at 7 a.m. on a Sunday just to send out that e-mail. No worries yet, everyone.
I did, however, call the admissions office and I'm officially admitted :)

I second that. I think the email is "good news", but i'm sure that there are more to come just like everything else has in this process.
And yes, I applied for AGNP.
