Seattle University APNI Program 2018

Nursing Students Post Graduate

I'm interested in applying to the APNI program at SU. I've been reading a lot of the forums from other years, and have found it's quite competitive! I would love to hear from other people, and their track. Or if someone is in the program and has any advice about what they like in an applicant. Thank you!

@Itme does this mean that the "first wave" are almost shoe-ins to get accepted as long as they don't mess up their interview or, for some reason, they don't feel you match with the program? My understanding from reading previous post is people could still get in if you get an interview date as late as March.

That's my understanding, yes. You can still get an interview later though if they want to keep looking at more applicants.

@itme so if all the first wave applicants accept then the spots are filled? Last year I remember reading that they let some applicants know as soon as 3 days after their interview.

I don't know all the details. I heard something like they will interview for double the amount of spots they need, so I guess if they don't find their cohort amongst those people then they would reach out to the second tier? Some people may give up their spot too, if they are applying at other schools. So you never know.

I had My FNP Interview today! Glad to report that I felt that it went well.

as expected, they mentioned that those invited for interviews currently stand as the most competitive.

We will know Verdicts sometime in March.

was anyone who interviewed given a business card?

I can see them doing that last year, but not this time around.

I don't believe they are conducting that many interviews This time to eliminate half.

Hi there wannabepmhnp, I am local so I'm going to be able to make the in-person interview. However, in 2016, I flew from Florida to New England for my Yale U GEPN/MSN interview (like SU's APNI program) because I was too nervous a virtual interview wouldn't compare to my fellow applicants (even though they said it'd be fine... but I was skeptical). And, that was an all day 8 hour event compared to this 30 minutes...but, I ended up getting into that program, and I assume part of that was because I flew out for it. My point is, if you really want to make it into this program, remember that it is super competitive, and flying out for it, even though for only 30 minutes could be the little push that gets you in vs. not. It's hard to tell if it really does matter or not, but in my opinion, it's better and worth it if you're really invested. It's a really tough decision, so, best of luck to you and to all the other applicants/interviewees!

I think last year for the PMHNP cohort at least, they interviewed 24. 12 were accepted, 12 were waitlisted. They wouldn't tell you what number you were on the waitlist and I believe only 1 person got in off the waitlist (At least per the comments on allnurses).

Did they tell you we would find out March?

Yes. That is what I was told. I was also given a point of contact to follow up if I have any questions.

I would agree with that for last year. This year seems different.

Good luck to you guys. I am unfollowing this post. These programs say this isn't necessary or that isn't necessary, but somehow they still choose people as the top tier that has this and that. I'm no longer concerned with getting into this program. To the person that was given a business card and asking if anyone else got one.... I'm pretty sure that's normal, next you're gonna ask if they also gave the others a drink of water? Smh. Lol but good luck
