Seattle University APNI Program 2018

Nursing Students Post Graduate

Published

I'm interested in applying to the APNI program at SU. I've been reading a lot of the forums from other years, and have found it's quite competitive! I would love to hear from other people, and their track. Or if someone is in the program and has any advice about what they like in an applicant. Thank you!

@littlefeets I just had to get some info on the BSN pool....I applied for PMHNP.

@Itme does this mean that the "first wave" are almost shoe-ins to get accepted as long as they don't mess up their interview or, for some reason, they don't feel you match with the program? My understanding from reading previous post is people could still get in if you get an interview date as late as March.

No judging anyone or your choices, but if I was applying to the community track, I would take a long hard look at the cost of the program relative to my work after graduating. You will NOT be a nurse practitioner. You will be an RN--granted a DNP prepared RN but still an RN--and you will make an RN salary for a degree that will cost you $150,000 after living expenses and all that. There are many cheaper ways to become an RN and if you want to work in community health, those opportunities will be there for you. You do NOT need a DNP for that.

Also no one is a shoe-in. They add folks to the program up until the first day of the program. if you get waitlisted, it's not the end of the world. there are many people that interview on the first day that do not get offers.

Also to you that get in. You will love the program, you will hate the program. You will get through the program. you will grow and learn and be amazed at the things you can do. You will get pushed. You will get a job. After a little time you will get your dream job. You will do well.

What if someone wants to be an RN and does not want to specialize; rather, they want to use their community health DNP to teach at the college level whilst working as a typical RN.

i read in previous threads that emails to recommenders aren't sent until the application is submitted. Is it different this year? The application seems to imply that emails are sent once the names are saved.

Judging by the nature of the program and the typical student, I would think that person would be in the minority. But like I said, each person needs to evaluate their wants/needs vs costs vs outcomes on their own.

Thanks for the pep talk!

Have any PMHNP applicants been notified yet? I did not see any on this thread.

Not me. :(

My partner just got invited for PMHNP (I am a recent MSN-APNI graduate and working on my DNP).

May I ask if your partner is an RN? I am an RN and I also applied to the psych DNP track but have not heard anything yet

Got interview invite for DNP PMHNP via email about 10 minutes ago
