I'm interested in applying to the APNI program at SU. I've been reading a lot of the forums from other years, and have found it's quite competitive! I would love to hear from other people, and their track. Or if someone is in the program and has any advice about what they like in an applicant. Thank you!
@Itme does this mean that the "first wave" are almost shoe-ins to get accepted as long as they don't mess up their interview or, for some reason, they don't feel you match with the program? My understanding from reading previous post is people could still get in if you get an interview date as late as March.
No judging anyone or your choices, but if I was applying to the community track, I would take a long hard look at the cost of the program relative to my work after graduating. You will NOT be a nurse practitioner. You will be an RN--granted a DNP prepared RN but still an RN--and you will make an RN salary for a degree that will cost you $150,000 after living expenses and all that. There are many cheaper ways to become an RN and if you want to work in community health, those opportunities will be there for you. You do NOT need a DNP for that.
Also to you that get in. You will love the program, you will hate the program. You will get through the program. you will grow and learn and be amazed at the things you can do. You will get pushed. You will get a job. After a little time you will get your dream job. You will do well.

i read in previous threads that emails to recommenders aren't sent until the application is submitted. Is it different this year? The application seems to imply that emails are sent once the names are saved.
Judging by the nature of the program and the typical student, I would think that person would be in the minority. But like I said, each person needs to evaluate their wants/needs vs costs vs outcomes on their own.

Thanks for the pep talk!
