I'm interested in applying to the APNI program at SU. I've been reading a lot of the forums from other years, and have found it's quite competitive! I would love to hear from other people, and their track. Or if someone is in the program and has any advice about what they like in an applicant. Thank you!
Okay you guys, I finally called myself and got the lowdown from Chelsa. Apparently they have gone through all of the applications and have sent out the first wave of invites. These are for the top applicants. If the faculty feels they want to interview more, they will send out a second wave of invites. She said the process is very "fluid", because the faculty likes to get a wide sense of the applicant pool and that may require further interviews, so it's hard to give definitive answers at this point about what will happen. She said they'll get back to us as soon as possible, but it sounds like we may not hear anything definitive until March.I hope that helps. Personally, I'm not getting my hopes up, but I will continue checking my email (however less frequently). I'm going to move on in my mind though, since I was not in their top applicant pool. I wish you all good luck and don't worry if you don't get in. It's so competitive and I'm sure not indicative of how great an NP you will be in the future! Namaste, y'all.
Thank you for that. I will probably move on as well. Still have some apps open at other places. I'll be filling out those apps.
littlefeets, I just called Chelsa and she said that they have not sent out any invites for RN yet, that first they are working on the APNI candidates, which is where the majority of applicants come from. Only then they will start interviewing RNs and they might not be until the end of Feb or even beginning or March.
Which track did you apply to?
As far as APNI candidates, don't lose hope.... :)
This method is pretty common for grad schools. Basically, they have to anticipate how many people will decline an invitation to the school after being made an offer. They can't offer invitations to the program to too many people as the program has limited spots and funding. This is why they do it in waves. Basically, they invite their top candidates for an interview, interview them, and make offers. Then they go to their secondary candidates or even tertiary candidates based on the interviews and offers with the primary candidates. I still think we should all be very proud of our accomplishments thus far. It is not over until it is over.
