Anyone already applying at Seattle U? Which track? I haven't finished my pre-req's, so I am probably not too competitive this year, but I am going to apply anyway. I am applying for the nurse-midwife track and my background is Microbiology (UW).
So as I was looking back at the previous year thread, I noticed that last year the FNP students were emailed in early January asking if they would switch their chosen track to adult NP. I just realized that I have not seen an email like that, which I think could be a good thing for FNP people. Last year they did it because there were just so many qualified FNP applicants and they wanted to round out the groups more.
Also, earlier someone said something about 165 applicants to FNP with only 13 making it in. I am not sure how this can be? A current student who is a good friend of mine is graduating this year. In her class there are she said 25-30 people that are FNP. Just wondering (for any current students ) if something has changed?
Curious for those who got interviews- whatever will you wear ? :)
In 2010, around 25 FNP applicants were accepted.
In 2011, around 13 FNP applicants were accepted.
This reduction in FNP acceptances was due to the fact that the GNP track turned into the AGNP track last year, so the # of AGNP acceptances increased and the # of FNP acceptances decreased. I'm sure this trend will be the same this year. Hope that clarifies it.
I think wearing a suit never fails, better to be overdressed then under. It shows the person you take this seriously. I had an intern show up today for his first day, wearing a suite and tie. I told him I was impressed but that he only needed to wear slacks and a button up. But I do love seeing someone show me they are taking things seriously with a suite.
I also think black pants and a white shirt are great, its very classic look and I think it is neutral, which I am going for so that the people interviewing me are focused on me and not my outfit (I think overly fashionable can be distracting). Look professional but conservative ! I look young which is a drawback so I am going to be challenged in trying to look like I am old enough to be an NP (I have had patients ask me if I am 15 which is rather embarrassing).

Leahcheers, from what I recall of the Info Session I attended last year, the FNP track receives the most applicants. Maybe it just takes them a bit longer to get through all the applications for that particular one. I'll be crossing my fingers for you - I know the anticipation is crazy. Congrats to everyone else who's received invites!
