Anyone already applying at Seattle U? Which track? I haven't finished my pre-req's, so I am probably not too competitive this year, but I am going to apply anyway. I am applying for the nurse-midwife track and my background is Microbiology (UW).
None here! Boo! Still hoping for something good though, if I remember right last year they spanned a few days.
I am glad that my status online doesn't say "your admission decision has been mailed" because from what I saw last year, that seems to be the final nail in the coffin.
I hope next time I post I have an interview!
Hey guys! If I had the choice, I would of course love to see the questions beforehand, BUT I actually I think it might be to our advantage to not know... In fact, I think I might check out of this thread before interviewing because I don't want to psych myself out! :)
I just wanted to express the (my) opinion that it's better to go into these types of interviews unreheorificed because they want to see the real you, and I'm SURE they can tell if you've reheorificed. Also I heard that the interviews are pretty long, like around an hour or more, so your personality is going to come through at some point. I wrote this before, but I will say again that the questions are (reportedly) your standard HR questions, "tell me about a time when you were challenged/part of a team/had to work with someone difficult," etc. If you like SU, I'm sure you will be the type of the person with great answers! There's no right or wrong, just you. I think if you're honest, it really shows and people like that.
Just my two cents! Good luck with the interviews, y'all!
Calinca...my interview invite was sent last night at 5:25pm so I think you may be right. Other FNP applicants I am sure they will send more out....it may be in the evening. Fingers crossed for everyone! Congrats Calinca on your suit!
I'm dying to know when my interview will be scheduled....let us know if anyone gets that scheduling email soon! :-)
Hi Svetlana,
I agree with you that we need to be ourselves in the interview. No question about that: I think if someone goes to an interview with fake answers, it will sound fake or at least it will not work in your advantage in the end of the day. It is the same as lying or pretending you are a different person in your personal statement/letter of intent.
The reason why most people want to prepare for interviews is something else, rather than dishonesty, though. Like you said, there is no right or wrong, and the questions are publicly available in many websites. Pre-med students prepare for these interviews (there's even one website called "interview feedback"), PhD applicants, the University of Washington and many other schools have classes/talks that help you prepare for that - the same thing happens in the real world when people are looking for a new job. It is about learning about yourself and focusing on what really matters so that you are not caught rambling on in an already very stressful situation. It's about remembering of a challenging moment at work or at school that was the best description of how you overcome challenges. It's not about faking a challenging situation or faking how you handled it.
But each person prepares in a different way. I'm pretty sure most people have a very good answer to give when they ask about being part of a team. This is the same thing.
