Seattle Childrens Residency Fall 2021

Published

Hi!

Applications for the Seattle Children's nurse residency open up on May 3 and the OR residency application opens sometime in April. I have been working towards the OR residency, but I am applying to both because I am dead set on moving to Seattle and Seattle Children's is my #1 choice.

I have loved watching people on here talk throughout the application process, get hired, and start making their moves! I would love to connect with people who are applying to either the OR or the regular residency at Seattle Childrens and other Seattle area programs!

I just applied to Harborview the other day for their residency and periop 101 programs too!

For my interview they asked me a lot of basic questions. Like why work at Seattle Children's? Why Seattle if you're moving? Tell us about a conflict situation, a time you went above and beyond for a patient, a time you had to critically think to solve a problem, a time you had to advocate for a patient...etc. Honestly, my interview felt pretty chill. It was more like a conversation, and it lasted about an hour and 30 minutes.

There were two rounds. One with management and one with peers. I was interviewed through video and there were about 5-7 people in the first round sitting at a table and about the same for the second round. Everyone of course had on their masks, so it was hard to gauge their facial expressions. This was for the OR btw.

Thanks so much for the insight!

Has anyone heard about the interview time? The email said they would tell us by today

I have not heard anything about the interview time either

The interviews were today right?

Hi there! Is there anyone out there that has accepted a position and potentially is looking for a roommate to move in with in Seattle?!

Hey guys!
Anyone out there starting in August? Have you received any info on scheduling for the first few weeks? :)

Hi there! I am applying for the November cohort and am curious as to what previous experience you had that helped you get the position since it is so competitive. Thanks!

For anyone who got the job, or has done a new grad at Seattle Childrens, (first congrats!!), but also how long was the actual orientation part of the program? Ie. How long/ many shifts were you actually shadowing a preceptor?
