Hi!
Applications for the Seattle Children's nurse residency open up on May 3 and the OR residency application opens sometime in April. I have been working towards the OR residency, but I am applying to both because I am dead set on moving to Seattle and Seattle Children's is my #1 choice.
I have loved watching people on here talk throughout the application process, get hired, and start making their moves! I would love to connect with people who are applying to either the OR or the regular residency at Seattle Childrens and other Seattle area programs!
I just applied to Harborview the other day for their residency and periop 101 programs too!

I'm not, I'm from the east coast. I go to school in PA but I'm from NJ. How about you?

I'm in School in Colorado but I'm from California too. I just went to Seattle a couple weeks ago to check it out, I love it so much!

Hi Everyone! I am also planning on applying to Seattle Children's for the NICU! I also am from California!
The application for the periop program just went up, it's my dream unit and my anxiety is skyrocketing ?
Hi friends,
I just had a brief phone interview for the periop program. I'm not sure how different the interview process is for the main residency programs, but here are the questions I was asked:
When is your graduation/where are you taking your NCLEX (since I am out of state)
Tell me about your experience in your clinical/work and what you have observed (she asked me specifically about what surgeries I have observed)
Why do you think you are good for this unit over other units
Tell me about a time you made a mistake during clinical and what you learned from it

Thanks for the info! I'm sure the questions are similar for the main residency program so this will be helpful when the time comes. Good luck!

Hi all! I am applying for the November cohort as well. What type of school/work experience do you have and what units are you looking to apply to? Are you looking at other pediatric hospitals in the Seattle area? I'm definitely moving there as well but want to keep my options open for work.

Hey! I will also be applying for the November Cohort in hopes for the NICU! I currently work at a Children's Hospital in California as a CNA for 2.5 years and had my senior preceptorship both in the NICU and on a NICU step down/Respiratory unit! I am looking at one other hospital in WA but the cohort start date is later. I am also applying to some CA hospitals as well! So I guess I will see what happens!
Best of Luck to Everyone!

I worked as a nanny for 4 years, now I work on a surgical floor as a CNA and as a periop assistant in the OR, I did my pediatric rotation at Children's Hospital Colorado, and I am doing my senior preceptorship in an Adult Operating Room. I don't have as much pediatric medical experience since COVID shortened our rotation and canceled our peds preceptorship options. But I am hoping my OR experience will help!
