I start ns this month and I've been looking for a bookbag that would carry all of my books (12) or atleast most of them. I know I am getting one with wheels, and the only ones I have found with wheels are jansport, and they don't seem very big. Does anyone have any suggestions on what I should get.

Thanks

I had a rolling suitcase, a small one, which did fit all of my (what seemed to be) thousands of books. I needed to be prepared.

What I did find over my first semester, is that I really didnt need to bring all of my books with me all of the time. What I found helpful too was working with classmates, and each bringing a book or two to clinicals, so while we were looking up info, we could use each others books to get the info needed at that time.

I also kept a lot of books in my car, so whenever the feeling hit me, they were close by at least.

Best wishes for a happy semester!! Congrats!!

I just purchased a L.L. Bean and got the biggest one they had. I figure it had to work. Lots of people like the rolling ones but we have way too many stairs at school for one. I like one that has plenty of pockets for cell phone, PDA, that sorta thing. Good-luck! :)

I got a rolling suitcase and it carried me through 3/4 semesters so far. It has some crayon art thanks to one of my girls. But still works good.

I got the rolling bag from LL Bean and like it A LOT! Great price (for a roller bag) and pretty nigh indestructible.

Congratulations. IMO the rolling suitcase is your best bet :)

Hello Tanya,

Personally I would wait until you've had your first class at NS... We had like a dozen very thick and heavy nursing text books... fortunately we were not required to bring all of them... Our instructors would tell us which ones to bring (usually just 1 or 2) for the entire day. In that case, my jansport works just fine... I have been using it for 2 years of nursing school.

I know that the4 Jansport brand makes a large rolling pack.

One place to check (oddly enough) is the college bookstore. Mine carries the large rolling packs as well.

thanks for all the replies, i'm going to look at some ll bean ones. i forgot all about those.

thanks

I check out the LLBean site. It offers a great rolling bag. Thanks for the info.:chuckle

check w/ your school before spending the $; we were told NOT to bring our books, just a small notebook Very occasionally we would be instructed to bring a book but it was rare and easy enough to carry.

For clinical I brought my clipboard, drug book, diagnosis book, and 1 inch biunder. I just bought a cute $14 totebag and it was plenty.

Most of my classmates use a backpack (like most highschoolers carry). We definitely don't need to take all our books along (I'm not sure it's even possible!); most just take the main text for that day's lecture and a notebook.

Me, I bought the American Tourister soft-sided briefcase with carry strap...it has an expandable bottom so you can shrink the bulk when you're carrying a lighter load, and unzip to accomodate a thick text or two when needed. Made of some kind of canvassy-heavy fabric, was like $30 I think. It also has alot of great little pockets and zippered compartments, slotted compartments underneath the main flap for all the little things (pens, calculator, post-its, headache relief!) to be kept close at hand.

I love mine! Rolling ones are impractacle given the up/down stair situation. But mine's taken on lots of heavy hauling, tossing into corners, dragging on the ground (carrying anything after awhile gets annoying, lol). Mostly I carry a 3" binder for class notes, a 2" binder for lab handouts/manuals/whatever, and a cheapie spiral notebook for taking lecture notes. I always transcribe the notes taken during lecture, so it doesn't matter that I'm scrawling...they'll go neatly into the 3-ring binder later for review :)
