Okay Ya'll!!!
After ready about how NO ONE will hire new grad RN's,graduating w/ my BSN, and studying for the NCLEX in August '11, I have had it!!!
Where we start working may not be where we end up in 20 years, people. There are so many opportunities out there for new grads, it is staggering:idea: I made it my business to look for and succeed at landing a RN job and
I DID!!! Look at these gems:
*All Skilled Nursing Facilities
* Cancer Clinics
* Hair Club For Men (YES!!! THEY WANT YOU!!!)
* DaVita Dialysis Centers (They train (and make a big DEAL about it) and they WANT new Grads
* Frensius (sp) Dialysis Centers
* La Jolla Home Healthcare (Look at he site, they WANT new grads,too)
* Clinics in general
* Rehab hospitals
*CRAIGSLIST Healthcare (be careful)
* ALL SKILLED NURSING FACILITIES (oh, I wrote this one first )
Please check these places out these places. The key is experience; we all need it, yet don't abuse it, get at least 9 months-1year of experience or more.
Don't forget we will ALL be Elderly one day; just sayin'
If anyone else has anymore examples of NEW GRAD WELCOME jobs, PLEASE post them, ALL is appreciated!!!
Thanks All
Good Luck,
Lotus1972
hello everyone who got alvarado interviews! how did you guys apply there? i did not find any info about their new grad program :/ and goodluck :)
Hello CR1026!!!
That's the Great thing about Alvarado, you can just APPLY:yelclap:
If you have your license, just apply to an opening on the site. With the exception of ICU,PICU, NICU, and Cardiac floors, you know that you need previous experience but on the Psych, Med/Surg, etc floors, just apply.Just keep an eye on "preferred"!!!
Please, someone correct me if I'm wrong; but I think that the info is good to go...
Good Luck!!!

Congrats!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I'm so happy for you. Will you be on the medical floor? I think you are going to like working there :)
For everyone else: just apply, Alvarado doesn't have a real new grad program but they do offer new grad classes and 8 week orientation. They are really new grad friendly. Their new advanced care unit is fully staffed with new grads, a little scary if you ask me but that's what they do.
I think they're going to have more openings in the next weeks because some people on my floor (me included) are leaving......so keep checking their website and good luck everyone!
Hey dienne, you're PM box is full! Just wanted to update you...I got the job! Thanks for all the tips and encouragement! You're great! :)
Thank you!!! :) I'm starting on M/S! Good luck with your upcoming new grad program!

Congrats to those who are at Alvarado now! About how many weeks after submitting an application do they call? The application is so lengthy and kind of confusing. How many positions did you all apply for?? I tried applying for 4 that I though might be a good fit for me, but I don't want to look like I don't have a focus. Thanks for any info!
Thanks! :) Well, it really depends on the interviewer. I went on 3 different interviews over the past couple of months and only got behavioral questions (general and specific situations), but my friends got clinical questions on their interviews that were specific to the departments that they were applying for. I would suggest researching the hospital that you're interviewing with, show interest, prepare with answers to some general questions such as strengths, weaknesses, conflicts, plans, etc so you won't have to dig into the back of your mind for answers. Be ready to answer questions that you aren't prepared for though (don't be surprised). Think of questions that you want to ask at the end (it's okay to write them down). Hope this helps!
Congrats on your job!!!! :) out of curiousity, do you have any tips on prepping for interviews? what kind of questions do they ask new grads?
I applied on a Monday and heard back by the end of Friday, but I know that others have waited a few weeks. I applied for 5, but all of them were in the same general area.
