SD New Grads: Jobs Available!!!

Published

Okay Ya'll!!!

After ready about how NO ONE will hire new grad RN's,graduating w/ my BSN, and studying for the NCLEX in August '11, I have had it!!!

Where we start working may not be where we end up in 20 years, people. There are so many opportunities out there for new grads, it is staggering:idea: I made it my business to look for and succeed at landing a RN job and

I DID!!! Look at these gems:

*All Skilled Nursing Facilities

* Cancer Clinics

* Hair Club For Men (YES!!! THEY WANT YOU!!!)

* DaVita Dialysis Centers (They train (and make a big DEAL about it) and they WANT new Grads

* Frensius (sp) Dialysis Centers

* La Jolla Home Healthcare (Look at he site, they WANT new grads,too)

* Clinics in general

* Rehab hospitals

*CRAIGSLIST Healthcare (be careful)

* ALL SKILLED NURSING FACILITIES (oh, I wrote this one first :yeah:)

Please check these places out these places. The key is experience; we all need it, yet don't abuse it, get at least 9 months-1year of experience or more.

Don't forget we will ALL be Elderly one day; just sayin'

If anyone else has anymore examples of NEW GRAD WELCOME jobs, PLEASE post them, ALL is appreciated!!!

Thanks All :D

Good Luck,

Thank you, Lotus1972! Wow, your blog is so extensive, I am so impressed. Huntington Hospital has been posting a few new grad positions as well, they are located in Pasadena.

@JSRN17, Thanks, I just got tired of "I can't find a job cuz I'm a new grad RN", "I applied for a New Grad RN program and got the Shaft" and the " I have been a New Grad for 2 years and still can not work in a hospital" posts. There are hospitals that hire new grads w/ out a New Grad Program; there just has to be.All you need is a little bit of chutzpah and a bunch of RAW NERVE (in which I have been Blessed in both:yeah:) and an ability to look to the brighter side of Life!!!

:nurse:"PREFERRED" is the KEY WORD, people:nurse:

Where you Start isn't always where you will END UP, forever...

Working in a doctors office part time is another option for new grads, if you work part time the pay is higher and this can provide you with a chance to apply for other jobs (hospital) while making an income an gaining some experience. I have had a hard time getting into a new grad program, but I will not give up. I really like this thread, everyone please add on to this thread.

definitely an uplifting discussion, i'm really glad you started this post, lotus1972!

i also wanted to add that (please do not name names of flu clinics per site owner - if you have questions please post in the help desk forum) is hiring seasonally. they call right away for a very easy screening interview. i am waiting for my paperwork to clear, they train you online, then off you go on your own...but hey, experience is experience!

good luck, everyone!

Hello Dienne,

Congratulations on your achievements and on your new job! I have been applying to Alvarado and was wondering if you had any advice or ideas on what they are looking for in terms of qualifications. I see that they had viewed one of my submissions 3 times but no word yet...I applied a few weeks ago...there was no HR number listed on their website so I didn't know if I should follow up with them.

Thank you for your time in reading this! I live in San Diego so this would be an ideal hospital for me.

Also, are new grads joining nursing associations? If so, what associations are recommended?

I'm not sure they're looking for any particular qualification. I have an associate so I know they're not too picky about that. I had my ACLS and when I interviewed, the nurse manager was happy I had that. So maybe if you don't have that certification it might be good to have.

My understanding is that they are still hiring people, so don't give up! They called me for an interview a few weeks after they viewed my application online.

Good luck!

Thank you, Dienne! I do have my ACLS and I just signed up for an IV class for August...so I will keep my fingers crossed. Best wishes to you!
