Scrubs for Short People!

Published

Ok, I need to get a few sets of scrubs but I can't find anything that fits me. I'm 4'9" and 110lbs. NOTHING fits me. I do have hips and everything thats lenght wise is made for a stick person and if it fits hips wise it is made for a normal height person:lol2: . At least I can laugh at the fact that I'm really short! Anyway, Anyone have any ideas other then heming everything I buy? (Not to handy with the sewing machine);)

Thanks

OMG!!!

I have the same problem. I'm 4'11''. I did my OR rotation last week and to find scrubs that could were good for me was torture!!! I ended up wearing scrubs that were HUGE on me and dragged on the floor. I put the remainder of the pants (which was A LOT!) inside the shoe covers. It was the only way I didn't trip over the scrub pants. ;)

I'm 5ft 1in and too fat for my own good.:lol2: I like the petite size Cherokees, in large. I don't want my scrubs to fit like a glove--I want to be able to breathe while I'm at work. What I have problems with are the tops--I feel like my boobs are going to pop out when I bend over! So I've gone to wearing T-shirts and a warm-up jacket. Works pretty well.

I know buying scrubs will be a problem for me whenever I get the need for them, cause I'm 5'4 and 109 lbs.:o

I was broke out of nursing school so I bought a few pair of the el cheapo 10 dollar multi colored scrub bottoms in size small and went next to the fabric store. There I got this stuff for a couple bucks called "stitch witchery." It's fusible web stuff in a roll, kinda like tape but not sticky.

Basically I hemmed my pants with it and did have to cut off a couple inches. (I'm 4'10".) Yes, my britches fit like granny pants but they always did that. I've had variable results; one pair now has silk tape inside on the hem because the job I did on it came undone. The others are okay but seem like they may come loose occasionally when I go to stick my feet in them. Silk tape may be better than stitch witchery!

I'm going shopping today, it's been a year, will let ya know if I find anything wonderful that just fits. I might just have the shop that I buy from, hem my pants.

5'1" here and the iron on webbing is wonderful to shorten the legs. Immediate bonding and through in a minute or so. I have rolled the waist bands and tacked (sew) a couple of places there to hold it rolled.

The cost of fabric and the energy and time to sew, just aren't worth it to me when you can buy scrubs at Wally world now.

You can cuff them by rolling them up or tell a tailor or dry cleaning place to shorten the length..

I know just exactly what you r sayin'. No offence but....manufactures seem to think that nurses come in one size... fat sizes. I am a 124 lb. 5'2 girl. not a 160 lb. 5'6.:uhoh3:

Sorry. Now you know how we "fat" nurses feel when we try to buy REGULAR clothing and manufacturers seem to think that an "extra large" is supposed to fit someone who is 5'8" and 120 lbs.

Sassy Scrubs has custom scrubs. I have a hard time, being 6'2 and "fat" as one poster called it.. I like their scrubs, wear and wash well... bit pricey... but worth it if they fit well...

I've ordered from them before. They make jackets, pants, tops, etc. and you can get everything in petite or tall lengths, even the tops! They are a bit pricey, but they have tons of very unique material choices (some are even in flannel for the winter) so you really are getting custom scrubs. I once ordered something from them and found it was way too big - sent it back and they returned it to me one week later tailored to a smaller and shorter size, free of charge. I know it was the same jacket, too, because as a test I put an ink dot on the back of the tag, and it was there when I got the jacket back.

I found a site where you can order custom scrubs you might want to check it out. http://www.made4mescrubs.com/

a good tailor or seamstress can do it for quite cheap $6-10. and if youa re a repeat customer or refer people you may get a discount.

I'm 5'6", 125 # but I don't have a big bust. If I don't wear a tank top or t-shirt under the EXTRA-SMALL scrub top somebody is going to get a show

Are you my daughter? She is the same size as you. She is going to nursing school and gets measured for the uniforms in a couple of weeks. I wonder what the outcome will be? I am a little taller and was about 5'1" and 1115 lbs. when I was in nursing school. I have very short legs. The pants NEVER fit me. I always had to get the dress and shorten it. But the cut of the pants was always too uncomfortable. These were supposed to be custom measured too! The Dickies mini scub tops that they sell in many stores fit my daughter pretty well. They are a good price. I have seen them for $15-20 each in my area. As for pants, I think the low rise are good too for her. It eliminates the problem of the waist being at chest level. She usually gets her sister to shorten them though. Good luck!
