Flew from Oakland. I'm definitely looking out of state now.

Oh, we're neighbors. I'm from Hayward. I applied to a hospital in Texas yesterday, they left a voice mail on the very same day. I haven't returned their call yet because I was waiting on Scripps.

I'm sorry, SarahLT. You're in good (no - great!) company with all of us:) I know we've all made sacrifices during this process, but my heart goes out to those who traveled by plane. . . last minute! I am currently reading a book about great comebacks, and I want to remind all my fellow email receivers that the sweetest comeback stories come from the situations that sting the most. It sounds so corny, but I have no doubt that this disappointment will only make us stronger.

I don't know about you all, but I cried for a minute after I got the email and then thought, "Wait a minute! I'm going to make an awesome (practicing;))nurse!" . . . If not for Scripps, then for another great team , and more importantly, for all of the patients that I'll have the pleasure and honor of caring for. Do not let this shake your confidence. It's not even an option since we've already come this far. Just like anything in life, we can assess the situation and figure out if there are any improvements that we can make (really- who couldn't make an improvement or twenty;) ) - and then make positive changes in the areas that we've identified - whether those areas are having a lint brush or self-confidence on hand for our next interview. I'm sure most of us did an awesome job in this process!!! I am just bringing up these little things because if we can identify areas of improvement, no matter how small in this overall process, it gives us strength!

No matter what, we cannot let this rejection become a negative. Let's all commit to moving on and making it a positive thing!

This is what is so hard about new grad programs. If you get rejected you dont get any real feedback as to why!!! For me, I can assume it is because I dont officially have my BSN ( I am currently enrolled in a program) BUT, I was a LVN prior, I am working as a RN Case Manager with EVERY Cert in the book ( ACLS, PALS, NRP, BLS, MAB, Fire Safety for hospitals, IV, ect....)! 1500 clinical hours, 200 hours medical related volunteer time, I even did a clinical rotation at Scripps!!!!

I am mostly FRUSTERATED that I spent over a hour talking to my interviewer who did NOT have the final say in the decision to get hired. UGHHHHH! It doesnt make any sense??? Toni should have interviewed us!

Oh wow good for you! I applied for a position in Texas too, but they are taking their sweet ol' time in replying back.

I am planning to look at the positives that I gained from this experience. I had the opportunity to experience a one on one interview with preset questions and opportunities to expand on my answers. I can now reflect more on my own nursing experiences and improve the presentation of my responses for the next interview. I was able to meet several amazing candidates during the process and learn a bit about the various journeys taken to get to nursing. I was rejected after what felt like an amazing interview process and I still woke up the next day...it did not kill me. I decluttered a collection of nursing school era chaos in my home in order to expend my nervous energy during the waiting process. It feels amazing to start getting my pre-nursing school life back. During my interview, I was honest and revealed myself. It is important to me to be in the right job. I know that I will be an amazing practicing nurse and want to be in a place that recognizes that about me. Perhaps the cosmos are sending me a message that the right position is still out there waiting for me.

Thanks to everyone for the support. I have continued to apply to various jobs all over California throughout the Scripps process. I will be on the Sharp and UCLA boards so I will chat with some of you over there.

Good luck to everyone on your next step...to those that will start their first days at Scripps and to those that will begin/continue the process with other hospitals.:nurse:

i know i saw that too. it is just plain depressing. not going to go back to that link again.. couldn't sleep but only for a few hours last night, but woke up this morning and realized 1. it is still a brand new day 2. i can get up and move on. there are other hospitals that are hiring so it is scripps lost for not hiring you.;)

I received my rejection email last night as well. I just want to echo the sentiments that many have expressed already. Thank you all for the support and up to the minute information throughout this process. I'm sure I'll see many of you on the other forums (Sharp, UCLA, etc). Best of luck to everyone whether you're starting at Scripps or your opportunity is still out there waiting for you.

hey springbaybee and SarahLT, i just pieced together that i met both of you at different times during the day. i was the big guy in the dark suit at the table with you guys sitting with my friends from school in the bay area

sucks that none of us got positions. look forward to possibly seeing you guys at other events

Specializes in postpartum, newborn, geriatric/LTC.

Funny - I thought "hmm, BigMan314.... could that be the Big Man Who Likes Tiny Babies (NICU) who sat to my left at that Scripps table?" haha.

I can say for sure that you -and most other people I communicated with- would make excellent, caring, competent coworkers and nurses. Maybe we, in particular, were screwed by our preceptorships that didn't relate to the interviewing units (NICU and postpartum, respectively). Too bad. I know I'm a quick learner, and you probably are too, but I guess they just want to go with the "safe" applicants who had perfectly-related preceptorships and/or already have a Scripps 'in'.

I assume you (and others on here) are applying for CHOC and UCLA. If, Lord willin', I get interviews there.... well, we'll have this adventure all over again :)

For now, I'm taking my friend's advice to apply for any and all Maxim Staffing positions in my area (or areas I'd want to work like So Cal). At least you get some experience and make GOOD money. I just need to stay afloat at this point.

Thanks for all this support, comrades.

Hi guys, I thought I would share this with you. I also received my rejection letter last night, but prior to that I had an interview at Presbyterian Intercommunity Hospital in the morning. The interview went really well. This afternoon I got a job offer for the cardiac tele unit on day shifts. They hire when there are positions available and have orientations once a month, so you have to constantly be check their job boards. I talked with HR and they said they are going through a period of tremdous growth and are expecting to hire a bunch of people. I thought I would share this with you since you guys were there for me as I awaited on pins and needles my rejection letter from scrippts.
