just a word of caution:
make sure that any type of program that you go thru has adequate clinical time and that you go thru it. attending nursing school and never caring for a patient is not attending nursing school. and make sure that there are no shortcuts with the program, and that there are not 50 hours per semester. impossible for anyone to do, and physically impossible to do.
the us government, as well as cgfns, is paying very close attention to these so-called schools. and cgfns is now going to be pulling visa screen certificates that were obtained fraudulently, and that will have the nurse deported from the us. there is even an sntire page in the vsc handbook that addresses that.
please make sure that it is a legitimate school that you are attending and they have had graduates from that program that are successfully working in the us.
This issue has been discussed so many times. Even if you can take the NCLEX with an ASN, you need a BSN if you need sponsorship for a green card. The only other option is get a green card first via other means like marriage then you can work there even with an ASN.
And then that is immigration fraud. And bigger problems.
I just read the guidelines / policies set by CHED (Commission on Higher Education) regarding professionals entering BS Nursing program.
Here are the links:
http://www.ched.gov.ph/policies/CMO%202002/CMO_09.doc
http://www.ched.gov.ph/policies/CMO2001/CMO_30.doc
Just want to know if these are strickly followed by those schools accepting 2ndCoursers.
Hi, choco_overload! Thanks for the info.
Actually I'm very aware of the issue especially the PCHS officials involved in the NBI investigation.
My only concern is that if there are other schools offering class schedules like the PCHS offers.
I checked Perpetual in Sampaloc. Yes, they have night classes but for the 3rd year subjects especially NCM, the school would ask you which will you prioritize: your job or your schooling. Their schedule for these (NCM) subjects, according to the person I had inquired with, is during WEEKDAYS, that is from 8 am to 5 pm.
Thanks again for the info. I'll inquire at UDMC one of these days.
Im a graduating student of PCHS, I can finish the course in one sem but maybe to finish all the cases.. it can be 2 sems... depends on the units I take... however, due to the controversies about the nursing board exams...its feels like I dont wanna continue my studies at PCHS anymore.. Im looking for a different school.. you think UMAK accepts graduating students?.. thanks!!
Hi gemini_star! im new here, im a Registered Nutrionist-Dietitian, but i want to take up nursing as a 2nd course. I read through the schools one of which is the University of the East...as one of the schools offering BSN to 2nd courser. But when i called them up just now, they said that they dont accept 2nd coursers!!! Which is which? Has anybody have a contact there in UERMMC wherein they can accept 2nd courser nursing students?... PLs help, pls advise!
:smackingf
UERMMC does not accept second coursers as far as i know. i think it was gemini_star who compiled the list of all the OTHER schools that accept second coursers. you can check them again if you want.but as for UERMMC, you can cross it out of your alternatives. they do NOT accept 2nd coursers. :)
i used to be a stud from UE college of dentistry and yes UERMMC does not accept shifters or transferees...
fatima does..they have a great line up of professors in their college of nursing.. most of them are also topnotchers in the nursing and medicine boards before...cuz if a student tops the board there, they are required to give back the glory to the school by workin for 2 years there since most of them are scholarsw when they were still students..
and for US citizens like me,its a good thing cuz they included nclex classes on their curriculum before graduating but of course you need to pay for that..they can put whatever subjects they like since they were granted DEREGULATED STATUS by the CHED same as UST,UE and UP
its all wortk it though.. cuz i didnt enroll in a review center here and when i first took the exam on jan10 '07,it ended in 75 questions and i passed...great amount of knowledge i have came from the professors..
warning though...it will take a little getting used to to totally adapt to the environment there and teh people.....

us immigration requires that you have a bsn, if you went to nursing school in the philippines. the adn is only accepted if you physically attended school in the us.
you will not be able to get a green card with that degree from the philippines, same as you cannot get a green card with the lpn license. just being able to sit for an exam, does not give you the right to work in the us, and that is the omost important.
sorry, but do not believe a word that the school is telling you.
