If your instructor is anything like mine, and you have to copy the notes for the entire semester out of the library, start stockpiling dimes for the copy machine. :o

awww, what about a lunch box??? I wanted Scooby Doo. My kids get a new one every year. Guess I am too old for one. Boohoo...

I am starting my nursing classes this year, but from taking all my prerequisites I suggest the following supplies:

Stapler, scotch tape, highlighters, index cards, black pens, whiteout, huge bottle of Tylenol, even bigger bottle of Tums, roll of quarters for phone, roll of dimes for copy machine, those little white hole things for when notebook paper rips at the hole, post it notes, book bag, hole puncher, new ink cartridge for computer, and a partridge in a pear tree.

Hope you enjoy your classes, Berta

Once you start taking classes, your friends & family will look to you for answers to medical questions. If you are like me, you won't know squat. I suggest getting a good medical reference for your bookshelf. Merck Manual & an old edition of Current Medical Diagnosis & Treatment has helped me bone up on my husband's medical crises including a hot appendix & chicken pox.

If you don't want to spend $$$, check http://www.emedicine.com It is handy for getting the basics on most med probs you'll encounter.

Have fun!

I have so much fun going to Wal-Mart and buying school supplies. It's always so funny to be standing in the aisle with all the little kids, and picking out my notebooks. I buy way too much stuff, but between work and school, I will be living out of my bookbag. Therefore, I must have enouch in there to last me a week lol.

I just started last week and already learned two things:

Buy the WIDEST binder you can handle. Mine is stuffed already.

A three hole punch is priceless

oohh, and I like the above idea of those little white thingies for the notebook paper holes. I HAVE go tto get some of those, I always used scotch tape (and I am not handy with the scotch tape, always made it worse than it had to be.) I also bought page protectors, because I don't know if everyones school works like this, but we already got our required reading, day by day chapter by chapter and all the other good stuff that says what were doing every five minutes. I know for a fact that these few sheets of paper are what my coffee will enividibly fall on. I already feel better that they are covered. I think they were like 100 for $2 or something like that. I really feel like a geek though, but its okay.

and again I agree with Berta, a BIG bottle of tylenol. I never need the tums though, I just quiet the pains in my tummy by filling it with as much food as possible when I am stressed. Gym membership is a must for me.....

Good luck.

White thingies, lol, you sound like me, Bedpan.

One thing about the clipboard...and it IS cool, but my clinical instructor told us we CANNOT carry our clipboard on the halls. She said they are a "crutch" or "security blanket". Hence, I carry little laminated cards with lab values, etc. in my pockets

Get plenty of laminate sheets!!!!

When I started I bought a binder and got the dividers, some of those clear plastic page protectors. They are wonderful for putting your class schedule in. Our instructors usually give us a week by week schedule at the beginning of the semester. I made a section for each class. It has worked great. I can't imagine carrying a different binder for each class. One thing that no one has mentioned yet is a tape recorder. I have found that with some instructors I cannot listen to them ad write what they are saying at the same time. Find out if your instructors will allow you to use one, mine is invaluable. I go back and listen to the lectures again before each test. Good luck!

Leslie-second year ADN student..wow that feels really good to say that!!! Only 2 more semesters!!
