I broke my arm on Saturday and will have to be in a cast for 4 weeks. I am terrified that I will be made to sit out a semester. It is my right arm and of course I am right handed.
What would your school do?

Mine wouldn't let me in clinicals since we need to be free of restrictions. You're lucky if you only have to sit out a semester-- in my program I'd have to wait a whole year for the course to be offered again and proceed forward in the nursing course sequence (and would only be allowed back in the program to take it if there were a space for me).
That's policy at my school and it was explained to us very clearly. Hopefully your school is more lenient as I would hate for you to have to sit out:(

We had a student break her ankle and she had to stay back a semester. Our school is very good about letting the students who have an injury that was beyond their control back in right away for the next class.

our school would work with us to make up clinical time with add'l hours at a later time, or with other assignments, but wouldn't hold us back

Check your handbook and ask your dean ASAP. If it is possible, state that you will pull 2 clinicals a week for however long it takes...but don't be suprised if you get held back. It happens....GL though. It sucks.

That happened to someone in my class and they have to wait a year to get back in the program.
I am going to have to sit out a semester. I am so upset, I put my life on hold to go back to school, and now it will an extra semester
sry to hear that shan...hopefully, things will work out in the future. Keep the faith, challenges exist to prove to us how badly we want our dreams. Good luck to you.
