We've had a student death also

Not at my school, but one of the high schools in our district (Student was a junior). I don't know the details, but I know our nurses responded and performed CPR and used the AED. Student was intubated by EMS but did not make it. I do not know if the student had a preexisting condition.

My heart is so heavy for this family and everyone touched by this. I know our nurses are in agony. I cannot imagine the pain they are all feeling.

Awwe. Kiz- My heart goes out to all of you. Wow. Many big hugs to you, your community and school. This verse has brought me comfort in hard times:

[h=1]Psalm 56:8New Living Translation (NLT)[/h] 8 You keep track of all my sorrows.

You have collected all my tears in your bottle.

You have recorded each one in your book.

So sad - what a tragedy for your community.

Hats off to those school nurses. I am an ER nurse and I could not handle working as a school nurse - I think it is a tough job and you are all alone - even though I deal with death and acute situations every day all I have to do is holler for help and I am surrounded by other competent nurses and docs...school nurses really go it alone and are very brave....my heart goes out to them and the family that lost this child. :(

So sad and so sorry for your district's loss and especially to that student's loved ones. I come to work every day with the possibility of performing CPR in the back of my mind and dread it so much because I know odds are not good even with the best quality CPR.
