I was having a long talk with a student today about hands being unreliable thermometers, and decided to demonstrate to her the difference in them btwn hand and forehead.
Infrared on MY hand: 97.0
Infrared on MY forehead: 100.9! What the heck?!
I have been repeating my temp anytime I'm alone and I'm steady around 100, but still, um...I better not be getting sick again, I just got the all clear from my pneumonia on Monday!
Y'all, I did the unthinkable yesterday....when I sent out the email alerting faculty that we might have influenza on campus, and to wash their hands...I told them to send me any kids with symptoms of flu-like illness. So basically I just enabled ALL their MOM HANDS....
My greatest fear of doing this...

Same here. We have a GI bug going around, but I know the second I admit to the entire school it's presence, I will be flooded with stomach aches that "need to go home".
So instead I sent out a generic "Let's end the year healthy" email reminding them all to wash their hands and if a little one is sent home wipe down their desk.
I think I figured it out, TMI ahead...I have IBS-D and for the last several months have had symptoms EVERY morning. Upon some research it seems that some people with IBS-D will run low grade fever with a flare. I think likely my elevated temp, esp in the AM is likely due to this.
I assumed you were hot stuff.

I'm sorry you don't feel well, but on a side note - this is GREAT info. I have a bunch of students with diagnosed or strongly suspected IBS.
