Did anyone apply for and/or get any scholarships or grants (either private or government)? What was the process like? Were they financially- or acheivement-based?
Thanks in advance for your info!

Every school has different scholarships available. Most all have some that are financial need based, and some that are merit based. I earned some of both in school. If you want to apply for federal aid, like the pell grant, check out http://www.fafsa.gov For more local scholarships, check with your school's financial aid office.

I'm interviewing for a couple of big university-specific transfer scholarships this Saturday, so I'm terribly nervous!

and http://www.fastweb.com are two great places to search for scholarships :)
I've always gotten Pell grants (fill out the FAFSA and then talk to your school's fin aid office), but don't think I'll qualify for any this fall (winning the Jeep messed up my EFC)
manna, how did you win a Jeep?
Thanks to both of you for the advice. I will head over to the fin. aid office this week!
I entered a contest online, and somehow managed to be one of two lucky winners! We picked it up on Halloween, 2003. Pretty exciting, really! :)

ooohhh!! Nice jeep, Manna!! But, that really sucks that you don't get your FA just because of that! It's always something, isn't it?? Well, I wish you the best in your interviews for those 2 scholarships! Good luck, and let us know how it goes!

Our school has that here and just about everyone who applied got it. In fact I don't know anyone that applied and didn't get it. I got it. Ask at your school about it.

Thanks! I'm in the process of filling out a "special circumstances" type form right now, I just have to find a time I can take off work and go in and meet with the school's fin aid director!

I got a Pell Grant and also a scolarship through workforce development center( Adult workers program). You had to meet financial qualifications, but also had to be going for a degree that was in demand. It pays for tuition, books, and mileage or daycare up to a certain amount. I even get my gas paid! Let's hope I still qualify next year! :)

http://www.fastweb.com is a great place to look up scholarships. Monster.com has a scholarship for allied health professionals and nurses but I am not sure when the deadline is/was!

Thanks Angela, we're loving having a Jeep... I've wanted one since I was in high school, but hadn't been able to afford one. It's just perfect for hauling around boys and all their junk (which seems to only multiply with age! LOL) :)
I'm still on the scholarship search. I felt like one of my interviews went fairly well, while the other one bombed.. still waiting for a letter on the school about that. :)
