This thread was started for everyone who will be attending the 2011 SCCC Ammerman Campus Day RN program. I think it might be worth it to have a thread especially for us, so that we can keep in touch with our fellow students, talk about issues that come up in class and help each other out when necessary.

Did anyone else get the letter about orientation and the handbook today? Part of the letter states "please review the agenda on the back of this letter carefully so you will know what to expect on June 6th" , however I turned the page over and there is a lack of agenda. Did anyone else have this problem.
Hi everyone! I took a cpr class last fall at suffolk and was certified. I'm guessing this is all I need. They certified me for first aid too. I will be attending the early orientation on June 6th I was lucky enough to get a sitter. The handbook isnt available until June 1st on the website. Was hoping to review that earlier but Alas! I will have to wait. I heard once you have a year of nursing school you can automatically work as a nurses aide? has anyone else heard that? Hope to meet you all at orientation! We should figure out how to greet eachother as to avoid asking every person if they are part of a board on Allnurses lol
Hi everyone! I recently payed my deposit & can't wait for September!!! I have a friend that recently graduated from Farmingdale University 2yr nursing program & got a job @ StonyBrook Hosp... So their are jobs in local hospitals for us, so don't worry.. See everyone on the 6th:)
So happy to see you made it HopefulLnurse. Jobs are out there especially in nursing homes, I know it might not be the place most of us want to work but it's a job for now at least. I work as a PCA in an assisted living facillity out in Port Jefferson and they are always hiring.
I worked direct care at AHRC for over three years. They always seemed to be hiring nurses. :)
I'll be going to the early orientation on the 6th. Can't wait to meet everyone.
I found out that the class I'm in will have clinical at PBMC. Anyone else in the same class? I would've rather had something closer but the class times are perfect so I can help my mom with babysitting haha
