SC4 vs. Baker College

Published

Hi everyone,

I've been recently accepted into SC4's Nursing Program. I am very excited. However that is my backup school. I am really hoping to get into Baker (Clinton Township). I have a 4.0 and just took the NET Test and am awaiting the results. I hope my score is high enough to get in this fall or else I will definately be going to SC4. So here's my question: What are my odds of getting into Baker College given my GPA? And are any of you soon-to-be fellow SC4 or Baker nursing students? Which program do you think is better? Any opinions would be appreciated!!!

Thanks!

Hi Jen, I go to Baker College and are waiting to get into the nursing program as well. From what I have been told Baker only excepts 30 students for fall and 30 for spring, out of the 30 there is a certain percentage that are for transfer students (even if it was 1 class that was a transfer credit). I want to say around 7 slots are held for transfer students (something like that).

The lowest GPA accepted was around a 3.7, but it def. depends on the NET score.

What is SC4??? Just curious.

When did you take the NET?

I took mine last thursday and are so nervous for my results.

Good luck with everything :)

SC4 is St. Clair Community College. They also have a 1 year paramedic/lpn to RN program.

hello. I just took my HESI at SC4. I have a pretty good GPA and did fairly well (I think) on the HESI. I am just curious if anyone out there knows what kind of scores and GPA's this grauduating class had. I am just hoping that my scores and grades and amount of liberal arts class is enough to make the cut. Any info that anyone has would be great. I realize that the scores of the people taking the HESI this time is diff then last time. I am just looking for an idea of where I might stand in comparison to anyone else who has made it into the program. Thanks!!!! :)

If you don't mind me asking, what was your Hesi score. I took mine on Dec. 19th and didnt think I did that well. I got an 87%. When I met with an advisor she told me last year they took a student with a 3.2 and a Hesi score that was around 210. I guess they look at the Hesi as being worth 300 points. Which prerequisites do you have done? I have A&P 1 & 2 but thats about it. I am hoping to get in. Good Luck!!

Did you end up getting into Baker? I will take the NET this spring. Do you have an idea of what other studen'ts scores were? I am curious as to what was the lowest NET score they took and the lowest GPA.

My HESI score was an 84% I just looked at my score I thought it was higher then that. But, I must have been looking at the other scores from the individual test. OOPS. But, anyways... my hesi was a 84% and I have a 3.4 and I have A&P I and II, Political Science, Composition and General Psychology done. I think I have one other class done as well I just can't think iof it right now. I am taking the HE210 this semester and I should only have left the HE224 and Developmental Psychology. So, I guess that is it. I did'nt leave anything out. So, I have 5 of the prereqs done. You said that the lowest student last year had a 210. What is that in relation to percentage on the HESI do you know? I am very anxious and nervous. As is everyone else who is in my place.

I have not applied for Baker's HESI because I don't have all of their prereqs done to apply for there program. Because as I understand it I have to have all their prereqs done first before i can take the NET. Is that correct? I have heard that if you don't have a 3.5 or better and don't get all 7 points that are eligible for gpa and not repeating classes, and the score of your NET that you really don't have a chance. But, that is what I have heard. But, then again with the NET you don't test on A&P which was my hurdle. I have a friend that is going to be taking the NET there in the spring.

Well, I look foward to hearing from you. Thanks for your information.;)

I personally think you have a good chance of getting accepted. You have a lot more classes done for SC4 than I do and they factor that in when accepting students. I am not sure what that score on the hesi means but the counselor told me they look at the total of 300 points and look at how many you got out of 300.

As far as Baker, I was getting my books the other day and ran into my counselor. I told her how nervous I was about the NET in the spring. She told me that they accepted someone with a 3.2 GPA this fall, this girl just happened to do well on the NET. Yes, you have to have all prerequisites done or be in your last semester before you take the NET. Hopefully, we will both get into SC4 in the fall. Keep me posted.

That would be great if we both get into SC4. We could already have a study buddy b4 we even start. Good luck to you and keep me posted as well. I will keep my fingers crossed for both of us!!!

Good luck at Baker too.

So do we really have to wait until May or June to get our results from SC4? I am going to go CRAZZZY if I have to wait that long. I pray that I get in..... I just have too. :) :specs:

Keep in mind that HE101 (Dimensional Analysis) is a mandatory pre-req at SC4 now; yet, I do not know if there is a comparable course for transfer students.

I agree with you Angel, the suspense will be ridiculous this Winter. However, I'm sure the letters will go out late April or early May (for SC4).

I'm kind of hoping that my full schedule, this Winter, will keep me busy and take my mind off of that letter. I'm taking HE224, HE106, and 2 online math courses this semester. I'm a little nervous about HE224 because I'm guessing it will be more difficult than any of the other classes I have taken so far.

Anyhow, I wish everyone the best!

I took the Baker's Med 113 the advisor at SC4 told me to take it because I guess there was such a long waitlist to take the HE101 so thankfully that is done. Thank you though for looking out for a fellow nursing student (2b).

That is a lot of classes to take. I heard in my mandatory nurses meeting that we had to go to that HE210 and HE224 are really hard. I am signed up for HE210 this semester online at that. What is HE106? I don't remember seeing that on the schedule nor do i remember seeing the math classes? Or are you taking different classes to transition from your associates to Bach? Have you taken HE210 yet? I am nervous about that one. Then with it being online it makes me more nervous. At Baker the online classes were 5 days a week and out of those five days a week that we had to log on we had homework assignments 4 days and had to post on the DB every day to earn points.

Well, Good Luck to you and let me know how HE224 is. I was a little scared of that class :o
