Saunders or Kaplan for NCLEX prep

Nursing Students NCLEX

What is better to invest in- Saunders or Kaplan for NCLEX prep? I already have Mosby's comprehensive review of PN nursing for NCLEX-PN examination. But no CD ;( I d like to buy used but I m concerned the online key code may not work once registered to the original owner. Can anyone advise me please?

99% of the time, a used book will come with a key code that has already been activated...useless to you. (Unless the comments section in the Amazon Used Book section specifically says the code is still valid.) You can usually buy a code from the publisher directly for much less than a new edition, so buy an older used edition ($5-$15), buy a code ($50-$80), and save money in the end. Or better yet, form a study group, share a book, and use the savings to buy more coffee. Good Luck.

I'm not overly familiar with Saunder's, but I did Kaplan for the NCLEX-RN, and I feel like it was good. That said, I haven't yet taken my NCLEX, so take my input with that in mind!

I'm doing both. I have almost 100% finished kaplan. Its is harder than saunders. I like saunders for content and I like the book but the questions seem easier. Kaplan has a passing guarentee if you complete it all. I vote kaplan if you have to pick.

Saunders is great for content but do Kaplan questions because they are harder and passing level. I also thought they were more challenging and made me think. Saunders was just too black and white

on May 15 I took my nclex and on May 16 my name was on Board of Nursing I have Kaplan as one of the sources used to help me pass. Yes Kaplan kicked my butt!!! When I sat down and took my test I was happy it kicked my butt!!

Kaplan kicked my butt too! And im getting ready to take the nclex-rn soon. Im gonna be glad kicked my butt too, then!

For the PN I loved Sanders. I found it much less confusing than Kaplan. I guess it depends what you want though. Sanders is great for content review as it explains things in a way that is easily and quickly understood. Kaplan is better for questions, but the explanations and rationales aren't always as clear.

JackieSalvador, you saw how Kaplan helped for the NCLEX-PN, so you know you'll be grt after you do Kaplan for the RN, I'm so happy for you. I know you'll do grt on NCLEX-RN exam! :)

I am practicing questions from the saunders cd right now. I am doing the content area questions which are about 4400 total. Then I will do Kaplan and the Prioritization and Delegation book.
