NCLEX RN 6th time and Ran out of time
So I took the NCLEX for the 6th time. Failed I ran out of time at 199 questions. It was brutal. It's been a year since I studied for this exam. I am stunned that I cannot or haven't passed this test yet. I am foreign educated and had to wait 1.5 years until I was able to test due to license validation process. 1rst time I took it I just practiced some questions (Kaplan) and was tired and failed. 2nd time practiced questions (Kaplan whole qbank average 55%) and failed. 3rd time (Kaplan whole qbank studied some material and failed average 60%). 4th time practiced Saunders (4000 questions average 70%). Failed 5th my spouse told me to just take (was very stressed and didn't feel ready) (did some Uworld 700 questions and more Saunders 2-3000 questions). Failed 6th time I studied really hard. Finished the whole NCSBN course all quizzes and Qbank (average 70%-75%). I finished the Kaplan Qtrainers 1 (58%), Qtrainer 2 (64%), Qtrainer 3 (68%), Qtrainer 4 (68%), Qtrainer 5 (57%) and Qtrainer 7 (62%). Nclex Master App (57% average 1500 questions). 6th I sat down and really took my time with every question and tried to do the best I could. I really did do my best on this one. The first 75 questions were insane and some of the wording was out of my field of understanding. I was really struggling to understand the answers. I would understand the question and I knew the answer but finding it in the answers were in such a way that it was really tough for me to comprehend. I knew and understood what they were asking but I was always stuck between two answers and always in a bind due to the complexity of the answers and they're vague way. The test itself: I started off with normal questions (Kaplan type of questions). Then things started to get weird and answers were like a lock. Very complex wording and vague meanings which even if I knew it was a questions about bleeding post op finding that in the answer was really hard for me. I had 24 SATA questions my whole test. The easy questions were Kaplan type questions and I would go through them fast because the answer stood out to me. But then the weird ones started to come up. Questions that would have a perfect trap answer but it was another answer which some of them I figured out and some didn't. I had tons of prioritizations and delegation questions which I felt I did really well and I felt like they kept me alive. Then a many weird worded ones would come up and then a SATA question and I kept going like this for 199 questions until I timed out. The SATA questions had one or two answers that had some sort of weird word or two that put me in a bind also. After 6 hours I was not sure what happened. I was confused on how hard the questions were. Not content wise but the way they worded things. I practiced Uworld, Kaplan, Saunders and NCSBN questions and the NCLEX questions are a totally different animal in itself (in my own opinion). NCLEX passing level questions are a lot harder than Kaplan, Saunders, and NCSBN (they're question bank is bellow passing type of questions). In my own opinion. Uworld is pretty much kind of like the NCLEX type questions. But even Uworld can't save someone really. I don't know what to do next. I am at awe and a little confused. I was thinking about redoing the whole NCSBN course (the content part is good). NCSBN questions are idk silly to say the least. Restudy all the meds and probably Uworld and redo the whole Mastery App again. Looks like NCSBN wants to make sure I earn this test. Any advice would be great. Thx.

Subscriptions are expired on kaplan and ncsbn. I use Saunders only. $35 for they're Qbank. You can afford that.

Took the Nclex Rn the 4th time today
By the way. I have practiced questions from Kaplan (whole qbank), Saunders (2000 questions), Uworld ( about 600 questions), Nclex Mastery App (500 questions), Ncsbn ( whole q bank). If you have questions fire away.

Took the Nclex Rn the 4th time today
I took the Nclex Rn for the 4th time today. I spent about an hour and 50 minutes. Computer shut off at 80 questions. I was calm, I thought the questions where familiar to me and I seemed happy with it overall. I had tons of psych, triage, priority /delegations, plenty of SATA questions. Plenty of which Pt you would see first. But not many straight forward knowledge type of questions. Still very diverse though. At about question 65 I started to get pharmacology questions which I was like noooooâ€. I kind of did my best with them because most I didn't know. There would be a few questions then some other, then another two or three pharma questions. As it passed 75 questions I was kind of getting ready for the long run and at 80 it shut off. The last question I got it right 100% and a few others that I could remember I know for sure I got right. Do I think that I did well? Yeah. Am I going to pass? I don't know. Hopefully I will pass but if I don't, I have reached my limits on studying for this test it was a very hard year for me because of this test. I did Kaplan test 7 and got over 60%, Saunders 6th edition and was getting over 70%. I practiced some Uworld which I think its amazing and was averaging 60%'s and higher. Last time I failed with 85 questions so it's kind of scary. I did the trick with the card†an hour or two after the test and got the so called bad popup. The only thing that can screw me was the pharm questions and I'll give them that otherwise most of the questions where like deja vu for me. If I pass I will tell my story but if I don't I'll throw my hat in and go do something else for a couple of weeks.

Preparing for the NCLEX-RN
I just got done taking the NCLEX the second time. It stopped at around 150 questions. It was an up and down type of thing. I started with familiar questions and then unfamiliar and so on until about 150. I had a lot of SATA questions. I also had tons of med questions again. I thing that's what will make or brake me. I hated those questions. That is probably why the computer just kept going and throwing questions at me. I could work my way around any other questions but not on the med questions. I am sure I did well on the two calculation questions I had. I felt really strong on the delegation section though. I tend to feel like I failed but I'll see. This time around everything was more familiar to me and things were easier than the first time. If I fail this time also I will master the meds section for sure.

Confidence; Okay with failure
I like your attitude and the way you see things. I look at it kind of the same way also. If I don't pass I don't pass, if I do I do. I'll keep studying it won't hurt me. I already have an offering for a job at the hospital I work at but I didn't apply until I pass the NCLEX. I spoke with the director on my department and told me to focus on the passing the test first and then apply to relive some of the pressure. I work with nurses every day and talk to them. Most passed the first time but some had to take it two or three times. There was this story going around about this really good nurse that had test anxiety and had to take the test a whole year to pass it. So for the people that have a lot at stake or have test anxiety or whatever all they can do is to keep studying. Stressing out its going to add to the hardship. At a unit conversation Director said 10% in life is what happens and 90% is how we deal with it. With that being said I won't grow grey hair over this stupid test. I'll keep studying until I pass. I totally agree with the OP on his attitude. Good Luck OP.

Preparing for the NCLEX-RN
Thx Good Luck to you. The way I see this test is that even if I fail I will study more to learn more. It will be good for me. I don't hate the NCLEX I don't love it either but I will do my best. I still have a couple of more days to my kaplan subscription and I did the Readiness Test and got 56%, one Practice test and got 54% and another one and got 70%. Lol what gives. I will update after test.

Preparing for the NCLEX-RN
So I am getting close to take the NCLEX RN second time now THIS Friday. I did NCSBN NCLEX RN prep. I went through most of the content and the lessons and finished about 1000 practice questions before my subscription expired. One they're 10 question quizzes I kept getting between 40% and 90%. Averaged about 60-70%. I did the Kaplan Test Readiness Test and I got 57%. If I fail I will go back and restudy NCSBN again it's got everything one need to pass the test. I learned that keeping study material simple helps me the most with memorization. I have about 2 days available to study until the actual test besides being at work and I don't even know what to do or what to even study any more. I wouldn't be surprised if I fail and I wouldn't be surprised if I pass either. I feel somewhere in between. Some of the content and the questions I get spot on and some I have no clue what is even asking me. I noticed that in the days where I could concentrate and took my time with the questions even if I didn't know the answer I could deduct it and I got high scores on quizzes which were 10 questions each quiz 150 questions a day. On the actual EXAM. I will shut the timer off if I can. I will focus on each question and not rush. Get a good night sleep and not work the day before. :) If you have any advice please do post. Thank you. :)

Failed NCLEX the 2nd time
Sorry to hear.........I am getting ready to take the test second time and I am not very excited about it.

Failed Nclex RN at 265
It just takes time, hard work and discipline. I've seen foreign doctors with the thickest accent ever which it tells me they probably studied so much harder than a lot of other people that where born here to get where they are at.

Failed Nclex RN at 265
At the end of may I rescheduled right away. I couldn't sleep and cramed the night before so when I got to the testing center I crashed after 20 questions. I did Hurst review online first and its great for content but still not enough though. I am going through the ncsbn 5 week course probably skip the pharma section and then practice tons of questions. Those priority and delegation questions, that's where its at. Different people swear by different study material but you'll have to find what works for you. I had tons of study materials and did not help me at all. I am about to start doing content 4 hours in the morning and 75 question and review in the afternoon. I will start focusing on one area at the time. At this point I can score well over 50% on kaplan qbank. Another thing about the NCLEX is that for some it can be a blessing or a curse. People can get questions on familiar topics, they are good at unlocking what the question is asking and get through the test. Others can get questions on unfamiliar topics and there goes that exam. I know a friend who failed the first time with 75 questions and 45 days later passed with 75 questions. What gives? lol

Failed Nclex RN at 265
You seemed very well prepared. I think you are at a passing level already. You probably hit a bad patch of questions that decided your fail but I don't think its by much. I know people that passed by simply studying either kaplan, saunders or ncsbn. I think the trick is to stick with the one study material. My 2 cents. I didn't pass the first time and getting ready to take it again.

Preparing for the NCLEX-RN
Not passing doesn't mean nothing but another payment and another test day. Either way I am at 50%-60% rate passing on Kaplan and I want to do LaCharity questions and some more sounders SATA questions. I will make sure I sleep well before the test and also the day before the test I worked a full 12 hour shift. I was exhausted. If I actually PASS it will definitely be a miracle. At the end of the day its all in those priority and delegation questions. That's all its all about. How to answer those. I felt like Kaplan was right there with the Nclex. Kaplan was harder though but definitely a very good review.

Preparing for the NCLEX-RN
What trick? I didn't want to get up at 2 am but I couldn't sleep. I stayed in bed not being able to sleep with my brain processing all sorts of scattered thoughts. I finally fell a sleep after 5 am and when the alarm went off barely got out of bed.
