Santa Monica Waitlist

U.S.A. California

Anyone heard any updates about the SMC waitlist time? I was accepted as of Oct 2010, and told 2-3 semesters, and it says this on the website. Is it realistic to expect to start Fall 2011?

Also - I have seen some people mention their waitlist number, but I have not been able to get this info from the counselors. Any advice?

Anyone have any information about the upcoming semester? (spring 2013) I took the pax-rn on Oct 10 during this last testing period and was just wanting to know if anyone has heard anything!

Hi jchw81. If you just took the test Oct. 10 I would expect to wait another semester... I took my paxrn in april and just got notice that I'm an alternate for Spring 2013. Does anyone know how likely it is for an alternate to get accepted :(?

I got notice that i'm an alternate also so would like to know the same question as you if anyone knows how many alternates usually get to go in the program. I know it all depends on many factors of people declining and all that.

Yay thats good! Did u get an alternate number? They sent me one and then sent another email right after saying they gave me the incorrect number... ive been calling and emailing to see if they can let me know the correct alternate number but no response yet.. hope we both get in! Good luck :)

good luck to u guys. it's worth to wait. !!! :D SMC is awesome.

I thought i left a reply but guess it didn't go through. Yes I got an alternate number and I will be going to orientation so hopefully i get in. I keep hearing that they usually go through quite a few alternates but who knows. I guess we just wait and see. Not sure if they would notify us before the orientation if our alternate number comes up or if we will just find out that day. Good luck!

Hi jchw81 I was wondering if u made it into the spring semmester? I just received an email saying I am an alternate for fall 2013 and I was wondering what my chances were to getting in. Also how do u get an alternate number I didn't receive one.

You have a pretty good shot of getting in. I'm finishing up my second semester of SMC's nursing program now. I think most of the alternates except for a few got in during my entrance period. You'll find out your alternate number at orientation and if you make it in. You might be able to call the nursing office and find out too. But it could also change between now and your orientation based on who chooses to accept/decline admission.

Thanks zar963! I'm just so anxious to find out how are u doing with the program? Are u finding it difficult?

The first semester was alright, not too hard. N20 sucks, it was really hard - we lost like 5 students of less than 40. Never studied so hard for a class before, let alone just to pass - but it's do-able, just form study groups right away. I'm in N25 and N28 now, which is easier. N30 is supposed to be the hardest - I'm not looking forward to that. The program produces great nurses and the pass rate for the NCLEX is 98%. And it's flying by so fast. Good luck!! I gotta go write three papers now.

Will you be at orientation tomorrow(actually today)? I'm so excited, I can't sleep!

Everything Zar said! You have a good chance getting in as an alternate. Just finished first semester and it was great. Thanks for the heads up Zar about N20, that's what i've been hearing so i better prepare. Good luck to everyone.
