Santa Monica Waitlist

U.S.A. California

Published

Anyone heard any updates about the SMC waitlist time? I was accepted as of Oct 2010, and told 2-3 semesters, and it says this on the website. Is it realistic to expect to start Fall 2011?

Also - I have seen some people mention their waitlist number, but I have not been able to get this info from the counselors. Any advice?

if you passed NLN already, you will get a letter for Fall 2012 @ SMC. They sent invites to ppl applying on March 2011 (from March 1st- 16th). The rest will be sent out on October 2012.

You're talking about an invitation to take the NLN, right? Not invitations to start the program, that is what I was talking about.

I applied Oct. 2010, anyone heard anything about when invitations to start the program will be sent out? I was an alternate to start the program last semester, Spring 2012 (in case people declined their spot), but had the option to forgo entrance into the program until the following semester (Fall 2012), which is what I did in order to finish Pharmacology and some other co-requisites before starting the program.

They say invitations to join the program/attend orientation for Fall are sent out in May.

Hi, did anyone get an invite for the fall 2012 SMC nursing program yet? I heard that they sent out either a letter or email yesterday?

-------- told me they were sending out emails this or next week. I'm not sure. i LOVE SMC nursing, but I think I will turn down my seat since I have my AA already. SMC not only requires me to take PHARM. and Drug Calculation (done), but also INTERPERSONAL COMMUNICATION and GLOBAL CITIZEN ?!?!.. I'm like what? I passed my PUBLIC COMMUNICATION already, and CALIFORNIA history , but it's not what they need.

Since, LATTC accepted me. it's cheaper, and they have RN-BSN @ USULA , just like in Santa monica college , tthey have RN-BSN bridge (with CSUDH)

well, good luck to all ppl who's waiting to hear from them for FALL 2012

I got an invite for Fall, but I sent her an email asking about my position on the waitlist and she emailed me the acceptance letter in return.

I'm taking interpersonal communication now, and let me just say that with my professor... one of the best classes I've ever taken (and super easy). I'm also taking Pharm right now, it requires a LOT of studying, but the instructor who teaches it for SMC is amazing/smart/funny and the tests have no surprises. He also relates many of the topics to current events and real life situations which is awesome.

And yeah... my last GE class to take is a history class, and I can take the one that satisfies the global citizenship requirement, which I'm taking over summer. So by the time I start in Fall I'll have all the other required classes out of the way. Yay!

Seriously, just e-mail her. I was stressing out because I just wanted confirmation. Now I'm set :)

Hi ZAR963

Who did you speak to to get that information? I passed the test in April and applied in March 2011 so if you JUST got in then I probably have another semester to wait... I tried emailing the person who invited me to take the PAX RN but she never replies my emails

I emailed Michelle.

I emailed her last semester also because I didn't hear anything and she sent me acceptance as an alternate (if spaces opened up I would get in), but I chose to forgo possible admission for Spring 2012 to finish the rest of my co-reqs and GE.

I don't think we're allowed to say last names on here but her contact info is on the SMC directory:

Employee Directory

Search "Health Science" under department; she's the 4th one down. Email her today because the last day to respond to the invite for admission is tomorrow at 4 pm. She usually responds within several hours.

Or email ------- under the counseling department in the directory. She contact me last week for clarification about some previous coursework. She's a counselor for the nursing department.

Thanks so much. ---- is the one that I've been emailing this whole time and haven't gotten a reply. But I figured I'm probably going to be an alternate of some sort. Thanks again for your help :)

Oh and congrats on finally getting in!!! :) Good luck with everything!!!

Hi,

Does anyone know how hard is SMC nursing program? I heard if the student fails a class twice they will be out of program. Is there any option for these people? Can they apply to other school? If they do they need to start everything for the beginning? Any comment? Thank you.

I just got an invite to take da test. But ima decline it since i got accepted into LATTC for Fall. I love SMC campus but i'd love to start nursing program asap. you guys all got accepted rite?
