San Jacinto College ADN Fall 2011

Just wanted to start a thread for the Fall 2011 SJC applicants to the ADN Program. I am eagerly awaiting the application period. Have any of you applied to other schools nearby?

I just hope for a 75 to actually be able to apply. Im pretty sure my other sections can pull some weight off it as long as I can get a 75 on the science. Hoping for at least a 90% to help with app points!

If I don't do well, I will have 1 week until I take it again...So at least it will give me time to study up on the things I miss...If I can remember them that is!

not to put your hopes down, but if you don't pass, you can't take it again for a certain period of time. Either like 2 months or 6 weeks or something. My friend didn't pass the vocab in feb and she was just able to retake it in May.

That's what I thought.... but I actually just spoke to the testing center and the nursing office late March...they both agreed that HESI has changed the rules on that and it can be taken immediately afterwards. Don't know why they changed it but apparently this will be the first semester that it is allowed. Used to be a 60 day waiting period inbetween testing...

The test can only be taken twice during an academic year.

For scores to be considered for application to the nursing program, you must wait two (2) months before retesting and may not test more than twice in an academic year (that includes the initial examination and the retesting).

Well that is good if that is the case. They told my friend that it would not count if the tests were not 2 months apart.

I took my HESI yesterday.... I made a cumulative score of 91.55%!!! :D

I ordered my background check and went and did the drug screen today. Guess all I have left is to actually turn in my application (gonna do that tomorrow).... Looks like I will sit right at 24-25 (depends on what my gpa jumps to once my final grades are posted to my transcript for this past semester) points out of the 30. I hope that it will be good enough...

Anyone else finish the HESI? How many points do ya'll have?

They changed a lot of the rules this semester. They discussed these at the info sessions. You do not have to wait two months btwn taking the test twice and you can retake only the sections you did not pass. Callvtge nursing Dept for correct info. Do not depend on the testing center!

What did you use to study? I took the HESI for the first time prior to taking AP2 and missed passing by a few questions. Taking it again next week and am FREAKING out! Any help would be appreciated :)

I read through the studybook and just finished A&P 2 the day before I took it...so it was fresh on the brain. A lot of the questions were straight from the text in the study guide, and a couple of the practice exam ?s were on it too.

I have a friend who is going through the same thing as you. She took the HESI a while back and only missed the A&P section by 2 points! She is retaking it on Wednesday. For a minute there, I though you were her....lol

Ask the nursing dept if you need to retake the whole thig, or just the parts you didnt get a 75%+ in.....Good luck!

Hello All!

For those who have taken the drug test and background check....do the results go directly to the school? I read on the school website that these results need to be turned in directly to *****, but how do WE do that? Is it an automatic thing from the testing companies? I'm a little confused because the application and other paper work has to be turned into enrollment services. Can anyone help?
