Hey everyone! I thought I'd start a thread for those who plan on applying to San Jac Central's ADN Program for Fall 2017. I know applications aren't being accepted yet, hopefully they'll post dates soon, it says "to be announced" on one protion of the website, and then it says Feb 2-April 2 on another portion.
As for me, I'm eager and ready, done with all prereqs and my Hesi. Here are my scores:
Comp I: C (Failed it years ago and retook recently and made an A)
Psychology: A
AP1: B
AP2: A
Micro: B
Overall GPA 3.22
Hesi A2 Exam: 89.6% overall, planning to retake the exam to see if I can do even better.
How did everyone do? Best of luck, hopefully we will be studying together come August!
I also plan to apply to Alvin but doubt I'll get in because they are so selective.
I applied to both north and south.
The application deadline for north was April 1st, unless they decide to extend it too. I was told that North is only taking 30 students this semester and we should hear back from them by the end of this month. South did extend their deadline so we'll probably hear from them until sometime in May or even June.
According to Castle Branch, you must show positive for Hep B, MMR and the Varicella through blood work. Hep C must show negative on the blood work. I was cleared on the Hep B , MMR and Hep C. However, my blood work showed I did not have enough count levels for varicella; even though I had the immunization for it. So I have to retake the shots. I called the Central campus to confirm if this would be an issue, and they stated I should be okay as long as I complete it before the nursing clinical.
Check this out. After running all over the place trying to get everything this crazy place requires including a flu vaccine I get a notification from Castle Branch that my flu vaccine is rejected and here is the reason:
The current flu season is September 2016-March 2017. You have submitted a vaccine that is dated in April, which is not acceptable. Please see your school administrator for guidance.
What's ironic is I have a close friend that was just diagnosed with the flu. If someone at San Jac would answer emails and phone calls I would have received clarification on these things. I've sent numerous emails with no response and also left voice mails. I'm at a loss of what to do.
I'm speechless. You got a flu shot in April and Castlebranch rejected it? And Yeah, it's definitely frustrating when you call/email and don't get anyone.

Yes I actually got the flu shot yesterday to be exact. I already thought this was one of the dumbest requirements since there will be a new vaccine out by the time Fall semester begins. I called and emailed to get their take on it before I ran all over the place finding someone that was still giving flu shots, but could never get ahold of anyone. And of course under the rejected notification is says I need to contact the school administrators to discuss results...good luck with that.
Oh gosh that's terrible! I am so sorry. These are the crazy technicallies about this process that drove me insane. You know we will need another flu vax before Fall semester. I hope you can get a hold of someone about this. I wasn't able to attend an informational meeting for San Jac. By time I realized it was a viable option to apply to San Jac they were not doing anymore informational meetings. I spent $85 and a Saturday 9-3, for my BLS/CPR at Red Cross only to submit it and get a rejection email from Castlebranch that it had to be from American Heart. So frustrating since HCC took my card from Red Cross. So then I had to spend another $80 and another day at American Heart. So ... anyone needs CPR I'm your girl lol.

The informational meetings at San Jac are optional- attending is not mandatory like at some other schools. The deadline is the 17th...maybe you have time???

Good luck ladies! I heard the Central campus extended the application deadline to April 17th. I guess they did not receive enough applicants. I'm wondering if I should apply to the North campus too. Can anyone tell me if the North campus requires the same application? Does anyone know when we should hear from them regarding if we were accepted or not into the program?
