San Jac Central ADN Fall 2017

Nursing Students School Programs

Published

Hey everyone! I thought I'd start a thread for those who plan on applying to San Jac Central's ADN Program for Fall 2017. I know applications aren't being accepted yet, hopefully they'll post dates soon, it says "to be announced" on one protion of the website, and then it says Feb 2-April 2 on another portion.

As for me, I'm eager and ready, done with all prereqs and my Hesi. Here are my scores:

Comp I: C (Failed it years ago and retook recently and made an A)

Psychology: A

AP1: B

AP2: A

Micro: B

Overall GPA 3.22

Hesi A2 Exam: 89.6% overall, planning to retake the exam to see if I can do even better.

How did everyone do? Best of luck, hopefully we will be studying together come August!

I also plan to apply to Alvin but doubt I'll get in because they are so selective.

I would just like to say that San Jac was a great school for me. I learned a lot and got a job right away. Getting in is not easy, but staying in is even harder. I went to Central as I graduated three years ago and it was the only ADN program at San Jac back then.

This is really nice to hear! So glad that you had a positive experience and also found work quickly!

Thank you for sharing. :)

Are we required to upload proof of Flu vaccine? It doesn't make much since, because if you received the vaccine last Fall like most, it won't be effective by the time the Fall semester starts. I've called and emailed the college with no response, which seems like the norm for all nursing schools.

Yes- if you look at your Castlebranch account, and the schools list of application requirements, you'll see that the flu vaccine is a requirement.

Yes, but it also shows the physical being due at the same time, which we know doesn't happen until after acceptance.

San Jac is the only nursing program out of the 5 I've applied to that require immunization records prior to being accepted. Maybe it's because they don't seems it acceptance letters until right before the semester starts.

I believe you do. I just went to H-E-B to get a new one two weeks ago. It does seem strange considering we will have to get it again as soon as school starts. I especially feel bad for the applicants who had to shell out $$$ for insurance to apply.

I never thought about the insurance since I already have it, but that does suck. They shouldn't require proof of insurance until school starts, that way those individuals wouldn't have to pay for several months ahead of time.

Hi guys...I have a question about the rubric. So I am submitting transcripts from 3 different schools. On the section where the Overall GPA goes, it says they would calculate the GPA. So do I leave the TOTAL box blank? I know it seems pretty obvious, but I really don't want to screw anything up. LOL

I am leaving it blank. I have 5 transcripts, so they can do any calculations they need.

Thanks Brandon. :)

I think I just needed to know that someone else is doing that, too.

I'm starting to feel like Mel Brooks. #HighAnxiety

Hey guys! I had a question about the background check. I'm planning on calling up to the school tomorrow to find out more info (I swear I saw somewhere that we were going to get an email upon acceptance with further information on it but i can't remember) but like everyone else I'm suffering from major anxiety and wanted to talk to people who understand what I'm going through! Haha

As for my scores:

Over all GPA - 3.45

Science/Prereq GPA - 3.71

HESI overall - 88.8

Rubric score - 20

i've seen some amazing scores on here, best of luck to you all!

Hey again! I've been trying to get ahold of the ADN department today and haven't had any luck. I guess I'm going to have to drive up there again tomorrow which is frustrating. Do any of you know for sure if we are getting an email upon acceptance for background check info or that's something that we are supposed to be taking care of on our own? I wish it were easier to get a response from them.

Please let me know if you've heard anything :)

No need to get a background check until you've received an acceptance letter! :) We likely won't see those until the end of May or June. Good luck!
