San Francisco State University (SFSU) BSN Program

U.S.A. California

Has anyone gotten a response from the SFSU BSN Program? I emailed someone a while ago and they said it would be rolling around sometime between April and May (how vague :zzzzz). I am just a nervous wreck as everyone else waiting for their ACCEPTANCES (positive thinking!). I think I'm going insane checking the website once or twice a day :banghead:. I've read somewhere around this forum that people have already been admitted or denied into the MSN program and the Accelerated BSN @ the Canada branch, but I applied at the main campus.

Here's hoping and praying... :nurse:

Anyone that has gotten accepted to the program.

Sorry to bother any of you but I'm gonna apply for the sfsu nursing program this fall, do you have any suggestions that i should make on what i should put on my application?

May i ask what kind of GPA and supplemental criteria did you have?

Do they give more priority to students applying their 2nd and 3rd time?

Also does it make a difference if you are a male or female?

HEY EVERYONE!

I applied to both SFSU and CSU East Bay's nursing programs last November 2008, and now I'm just waiting for the results. I am so paranoid...I don't know if I get in. I have a 3.9 in prereqs and 3/3 of the supplemental criteria. For those of you who got in SFSU/CSU east bay, what was your gpa?

Thanks a lot!

hi everybody!

i was just wondering what gpa u guys had and what supplemental criteria u got when u applied to sfsu's nursing program. i applied already, just waiting for the results and being paranoid. my gpa in prereqs is 3.9, 3.94 overall, and i have 3/3 of the criteria. also, did anyone get into csu east bay's program? what was your gpa and TEAS score? please send me a private message if u wish not to reveal these info to other people. i just really need people to talk to while waiting for my acceptance/rejection letters...i'm soooo freaking out!!! ;o

thanks so much!

(wow i haven't been here in FOREVER!)

i applied @ sfsu & cal state east bay in the fall of 2008 and got rejected from both (lol)

my overall GPA was a 3.71. i'm too lazy to calculate my pre-req GPA but i had B's in both anatomy and physiology, A's in both chemistry and statistics (was still IP for micro). i got an 81.8% on the TEAS and the only supplmental criteria i had was language (slight speaking ability & comprehension, but not fluent) - spanish, tagalog and one other filipino dialect. honestly, as a student having to go through the intensive application process (haha), state colleges are pretty ridiculous nowadays. in an applicant pool of 1,000+, they usually take only 100 or fewer. i've known people who are way smarter than me who still did not get in so it's really up in the air what they are looking for exactly.

even if you don't get in, don't be discouraged. there is always a chance that they can call you back if someone declines the spot; i was thinking about switching majors until i got a call back from a school in june offering me a spot for the spring program (i originally applied for the fall)! right now i go to USF and i love it. so just remember, if there's a will, there's a way. best of luck to all of you!

Kayellow,

I am pretty sure with your GPA you will get in to both. I applied to both and was accepted to both. I currently go to CSUEB. My year, the average GPA was 3.8 and the avg. TEAS was mid to high 80's. One of my friends had a 3.7 GPA and around 85 on the TEAS and got in. My GPA in prereqs was 3.9 and overall GPA was 3.8. My TEAS was I think 92 and I did not have any supplemental points. However, for SF I had multicultural experience because I volunteer. Last year I am told the average GPA went down. I know the wait is so long, but hang in there. Best of luck to you.

thank you so much, julz16 and JBRN2B! I'm really just paranoid...because I've been hearing stories (especially on this thread) that says that at SFSU last year, they only accepted people with 3.98-4.0 prereq gpa, and also that one person with a 4.0 and 3/3 supplemental criteria did not get accepted. But then again, some others got in with a 3.7 or 3.8...so I'm really not sure what to think. I'm such a paranoid and nervous wreck....I really can't wait to find out if I get in or not.

Thank you so much for being so kind to reply. I really appreciate it. Thank you so much! :)

Did anyone apply to the off campus BSN program at Canada College? I was feeling a little optimistic about being accepted, but after reading some of the posts on this thread, I think my chances are probably slim to none.

I am a second bachelors student; 3.85 overall GPA, and 3.7 in the pre-requisites. I am completing my last pre-req right now (physiology). I have 2 of the supplementary criteria (5 years as a medic in the navy, and second language fluency).

I agree that the wait is unbearable. I wish all of us the best of luck.

hi everybody. i am a prospective student planning on transfering to sfsu, my first choice and excited! i am going to be applying to the nursing program in the fall of 2009. is there any advise that you want to tell me i should be doing before i apply? i know this is early but i figured, the earlier, the better.

I think you mean Fall 2010 since the 2009 deadline has already passed. But yeah, I'm applying then too, but its not my top chocie (thank god because its so competetive to get into SFState). Basically I can tell you everyone is going to say make sure you have a 4.0 (or close to) for your prerequisites and do as many of the supplemental criteria as possible. Thats basically all you can do. Good Luck!!!!

no, the fall 08 passed for the 2009-2010 school year. i'm going to be applying at the fall 09 semester for the 2010-2011 school year however, i'm still going to be at my community college during that time of applying. if i get accepted to sfsu and their nursing school, then i transfer at the fall 2010 semester. thanks for the tips too. i now know my odds of admission.

Right, sorry, thats what I meant. I thought you said applying FOR 2009. that would have been a bummer...

But yeah, SF State is rough, I think about 1200 students applied last year and I believe they only accept about 100 for the entire year. I'm glad its not my first choice school because I only have 2 supplemental criteria and I'm getting a B in Anatomy. That decreases my chances a lot, compared to everyone else who will apply. But I figure it doesn't hurt to apply! Who knows!!

But you never know. The person who said they didn't get in on a 4.0 and 3/3 may not have had many volunteer hours and may not have spoken another language fluently-just comprehends some. (I didn't read the thread).

Make sure to let us know the results!
