San D...Sharp's, Scripp's, UCSD, Kaiser...

Published

Anyone have any good info on new grad programs in San Diego? I'm doing all the reading I can, but it is always good to hear from others. I graduate in December and moving to San D from out of state. Any info from those who have "been there" would be great! Thanks.

A few months ago I was applying for positions on line, and a website said that Scripps had openings in Carmel Valley. I applied, even though I thought, "I didn't know Scripps was up here, I thought they were in S.D." They were considering me, until during a conversation with my recruiter I found out that there is a Carmel Valley down there too! While I thought I might have a chance for that job I did some reading and I was very impressed with Scripps.

Kaiser I would stay away from. It's no secret I have no love lost for Kaiser.

I used to work at Sharp. They love new grads there. They are also going to open their own nursing school in a couple of years, so they would be a good place to contact. I know at least 3 new grads who started in the NICU two years ago, and are now shift supervisors.

There are a lot of different opinions about Kaiser. i work for them now. They treat their nurses better than where I used to work! Also, the pay is better than most hospitals in the Bay Area. They also have GREAT retirement benefits. What was your bad experience with them?

I have no problem with the health care I'm getting, either.

Hi everyone!

They are already accepting applications for this january. I'm going to be applying to their accelerated BSN program. their website is www.ounursing.com for anyone who is interested.

Hi Insuelin,

I have log on to the website after I saw your message. The program is not run in semester like the regular school? Do you take all the online courses on your own pace? For example, in the holidays such as christmas and summer or thanks giving, are you able to continue the course and make use of the time to finish as soon as possible? Thanks for your answer!

Hi Eandgsma,

I just accepted into the accelerated BSN program in University of Oklahoma partnership with Sharp Healthcare in San Diego. How is your condition working with sharp? Do they provide tuition reimbursement upon hire for new nurse? How much do they offer for the new nurse who just graduate from BSN program? Is the living standard in San Diego very high compare to bay area in SF and LA? I hope this is not too much for you.....^_^ Thanks!! I am currently looking for place to stay in San Diego while I am in the program, I am welcomed if you have any idea. Thanks again!!!
