Hello!

I didn't see a thread for the SMU absn Spring 2021 cohort so I just wanted to start one!

I'm currently in the process of applying right now and working on my personal statements!

Hope you are all staying safe during this crazy time!

Did you have any grades you needed to update? Or ran into any issues with your application? I had to update a few grades about a month after submitting my app, so I got my prelim e-mail a few weeks after others first posted that they got theirs!

I have yet to receive a prelim review email for my application. Checking daily! I did receive an email over a month ago stating everything was verified and correct.

I haven't either. Is this your first time applying? I also applied on 5/1 deadline for San Mateo. I submitted on 7/1 again because I could get through to Admissions on if I needed to submit another application, even though 5/1 San Mateo apps were supposed to be pushed to the 7/1 deadline. 

So essentially, I have 2 applications in for the January start in San Mateo...I did receive a prelim review notice for my 5/1 app, so I'm assuming that my first application is reviewed...but still NOT sure since I can not get through to admissions. ?

I received my prelim email last Thursday. When I submitted my app, it was verified and I had my Summer course in progress. I finished the class and sent the official transcript, and NursingCAS processed it the first or second week of August. Maybe people who got the prelim email had all their grades in?

It’s my first time applying. I was not waiting on any grades. I only applied to the Sacramento campus. I was still waiting on a transcript 2 weeks after the application deadline (it took almost 2 months for NursingCAS to receive it). I’m assuming SMU is experiencing issues and things are slower than normal due to Covid like everyone else. I have a relatively high GPA. I’m wondering if they’re looking at applications based on the verification timing of transcripts? Were either of you still waiting on transcripts after the deadline?

For 5/1 - we won't know until Oct or late September

Hi! 

I spoke to admissions during their virtual chat. They said that decisions for both those that applied on 5/1 and 7/1 would be going out late Sept/early October for applicants looking to start in Jan 2021. They were pretty straightforward about (I know we're all super anxious, but they sounded like they're doing everything they can considering COVID-19). 

one of the admissions counselors also mentioned that all the information is on their main website. I took a couple minutes and although I feel it may not be as user friendlyy as one might like, all the information I was looking for was right there! Looking forward to submitting my app in December (or maybe April 2021...they also said the more prereqs u have done, the better for your application) ???

**I'm SUPER glad I logged in to the virtual chat session they had last month! I think theyre gonna start hosting their online information sessions again in mid September (one of my friends that got into ABSN last year said the info sessions are the way to find out EXACTLY what u need to maximize your chances of getting admitted.

So for BOTH 5/1 and 7/1 deadline, we would know in Oct???? WOW!, I wonder why same date.

Hello everyone! just received my email confirmation for the preliminary review for sacs program! anxiously waiting! I just finished my last pre-reqs patho and pharm over Summer, does anyone know if are supposed to send transcripts right away to nursing cas or smu? I was told by an admission counselor at an info session that any in progress grades or planned courses at the time of application will not count toward your GPA and were to be sent directly to smu if admitted. I didn't think it made sense to send them to nursing cas after the deadline, but now im nervous!yikes

I had two Summer classes and I updated my grades and sent my updated transcripts to NursingCAS and the program will see my updated changes. As for the fall grades they are to be sent directly to SMU only if you’re accepted.

Received an email from SMU over the weekend stating that they have completed a the preliminary review. Does anyone know what the next step is? I remember in an info session SMU stating they have a 3 review process. Thanks!
