Hello!
I didn't see a thread for the SMU absn Spring 2021 cohort so I just wanted to start one!
I'm currently in the process of applying right now and working on my personal statements!
Hope you are all staying safe during this crazy time!

also, does that mean they got 450 apps for 48 spots??
Does anyone know how long the results can take to come in and send it off?also, I hope they noticed my app :(.
Last info session I attended they said they had around 300 apps for 48 spots. They usually get around 150 apps per cohort. I keep hearing we’ll hear from admissions around mid October for the January cohort. So hopefully this week or the next! ???

Oh dang!! They should have added more seats!!
oh - did you email the counselor to know when? Or you heard in the info session? I also heard that too, but before they told me in September- so I’m wondering if they keep pushing it back.

I was wondering if your deadline got moved back as well? I'm unsure if the same faculty are reviewing both BSN and ABSN? This could possibly explain the extra time they need. I was just curious if anyone knows the specifics
Hi momo26! did they email you and tell you that? or did you ask them personally? Just curious if they will do the same for us

Hey! So we were originally supposed to find out tomorrow (10/15). They emailed everyone in the middle of September and said due to the "unprecedented amount of applications" the timeline has been extended. The new timeline they sent us states decisions will be emailed November 10th. They just entered phase 2 of the application reviews last week.
I was asking if the same faculty is reviewing for both programs because that would mean they are splitting time between ABSN and BSN. Thereby explaining all this continuous extending of the deadlines.

Its still extremely frustrating even having a date. IDK how it has been for you guys but there has been a lack of communication and transparency for us. Sure they received a lot of applications, but the state schools typically receive 400-500 minimum. Considering they are still collecting full tuition from their students, I don't take the pandemic as being a viable reason for them to keep delaying the process..
For ex, if they were upfront and told us "hey there is one set of faculty reviewing both programs that is what is causing the delay", or anything else besides COVID I'd have more understanding. They are not being open with what is holding them up.

Yea I know what you mean! It’s such a stressful time for everyone!
Not sure if the timeline is the same for us as it is for the BSN program because I never received the email of the delay and getting notified until Nov. 10th. I've only received the preliminary review email back in August. And every time I attend an info session they always say mid-October so hopefully we find out soon.

I’m assuming the timeline is different? Someone just said that they haven’t given you guys a set date for decisions so it makes sense that you did not receive the emails BSN did.
