Hi everyone! Is this thread for the 8 week unpaid nurse extern program at the Phoenix campus? Or is this regarding another internship?

Does anyone know how many apps they got this cycle? I assumed it would be less than Spring b/c the testing requirement got reinstated. But it seems like they're still behind so I'm not sure LOL

Those are not usually made until application decisions go out and then those who got accepted will do that.

That is not possible. Everyone must receive an email whether they move on or not, whether they get accepted or not. If you don’t receive one by the date, email them.

Where else have you guys applied? Is SMU your first choice?

If you do not get anything by 2/15 which is a Monday, you could log onto the BSN webinar they hold on mondays from 12-1pm and ask what is going on. I have not received anything from them either, but because I dealt with them last cycle I am used to the chaos haha.

I would not be surprised if this phase gets delayed like it did last cycle. They were very behind and not so good at communication. If you don’t get an email by that date there is a good chance they didn’t meet the deadline and will email the entire group a few days later explaining that it’s been delayed.

Hey! So schools like USF and SMU take a holistic approach to admission. This means they look beyond GPA/stats. They weigh you as a person and what you would bring to the program. I noticed my stats were higher than quite a few of the people that got into SMU, yet I didn’t even get waitlisted. Unfortunately that’s just the way things go. I wouldn’t take it too personally. This being my 2nd round of applying I’ve learned it’s better not to compare myself to other people and to trust in the decisions. (Even if they’re not what you hope for) I wish you the best and hope you get off the list! Thank you sooo much! You got this girl! Everything really will work out in the end and you’ll end up where you’ll be the most successful and happiest ?

@aymee @TaylorJ1028 I do believe everything happens for a reason. I just got off the waitlist at my top choice (CSU East Bay) and I will be starting fall 2021. I originally applied for fall 2020 but the cohort got deferred due to covid and I gave up hope that things would work out. I was also offered a spot in USF's program this afternoon at 4:48pm. They awarded me a transfer scholarship (15k to be renewed every year). East Bay has been my top choice from the very beginning due to location, cost, and the campus. I feel as though I connected with the campus more than I did with USF's. Deep down I knew USF was not the right fit for me and receiving this news along with the acceptance only confirms it. I will be declining my spot at USF tomorrow morning to hopefully open it up to one of you. I really wish you guys the best. Do not loose hope. Everything will work out the way its supposed to. ❤️

Look into out of state schools! I’m looking at the CSU’s and some community colleges too. If you’re gonna end up going out of state anyways the investment of USF may not be worth it long term.

I totally feel the need to start ASAP. It’s just really hard for me to justify in my head taking out all those loans for their program when there’s nothing that really sets them apart from other programs (except the religious aspect). The pandemic has changed the job market into the forseeable future. I have a lot of friends that are new grad nurses that are unable to find any positions and went to expensive schools like USF that are freaking out. Debt is never good and I’m not sure if USF is worth the investment TBH. Because of this I am leaning towards rejecting if they send me an offer. I reapplied to SMU for fall 21 so I have that to lean back on. I would rather I graduate with little to no debt and for it to take longer, than go with the more expensive option. I don’t want all of my paychecks going towards student loans:(

Congrats on making it on the waitlist! Did they give you a date where they’d get back to you? #11 is not bad! For SMU for Spring they went through a lot of people, more than I expected. A lot of people are changing their plans. I’m not sure what your money situation is, but if you commit to USF and then get off the list at state, I would personally take Stanislaus. I’m having a hard time accepting the 150k price tag (and that doesn’t include housing or books/materials).

YES! haha I relate. SMU was my top and after everything that happened I would not jump at the opportunity if they were to offer me a spot for next fall. I would have to take time to actually think about it. The lack of communication/organization coupled with not getting any actual advice from the counselor really left a bad taste in my mouth. I emailed to ask for any sort of feedback from my Spring app and all I was told is to make sure I meet the minimum requirements and to apply again. If I didn't meet the minimum requirements how would I have applied the first time around?? LOL Yeah USF hasn't made it to that level bad yet.
