Samuel Merritt University ABSN Fall 2017

Published

Hello all! I am new to Allnurses and I recently decided to change my academic career path from biomedical engineering to nursing. I am (hopefully) going to graduate from San Jose State University in May 2017. I was wondering if anyone has applied/ got accepted to Samuel Merritt's Accelerated BSN program? I was wondering if it's a hard school to get into? I am hoping to apply for Fall 2017. My engineering GPA is not that great but I already took the TEAS and did pretty well on that; I also need to complete Micro, A&P, Nutrition, and a couple other nursing pre-reqs.

I accessed the background check through the link provided in the acceptance email. You are right about the link on the smu website, it does not work

Hi - I live in Walnut Creek but would definitely be interested in tackling some of these prerequisite stuff as a group. Not sure what I'm going to do about the commute yet. Might look for a space to rent a few nights a week when I need to be in San Mateo for lectures. I can Bart in for clinicals in SF.

How do we share contact info?

Steph

I live in the North Bay and going to do the same, rent a place for a couple nights a week and then commute for clinicals as well. Has anyone started a Facebook group yet?

Not that I know of. But I guess we are ready!! í ½í¸„

Here is a group I made for those who got accepted if you wanna add it!

It would be great to find a place to rent a few nights a week, I live in the East Bay and I've done that commute before... it is brutal!

I just requested to join the FB group. (Stephanie)

Hi kab21_,

I emailed Kirsten, and she said we won't hear back until mid-June; that is when SMU will know if the Sac fall cohort will be approved. Luckily, mid-June isn't too far away, so I trust we will hear back soon.

Did anyone get an acceptance email today for the San Mateo cohort?

I was previously accepted to SMU for the ABSN program and the admissions rollouts happened slowllllyyy... like over a two week period! so don't fear if you haven't heard. I heard on the first day, and then a friend of mine didn't hear until 2 weeks later. It seemed like each admissions counselor had a stack of apps to process and they would email out a few decisions each day. you can check the prior SMU thread to see how long it took!

Hi Natalie513, thank you for letting me know. I feel a bit more relaxed now. Hopefully we all hear the good news soon!

Yeah, we're given 10 days to accept/decline our letter of intent and deposit, so I think it's likely you'd hear back this Monday! Good luck!
