Samuel Merritt University ABSN Fall 2017

Published

Hello all! I am new to Allnurses and I recently decided to change my academic career path from biomedical engineering to nursing. I am (hopefully) going to graduate from San Jose State University in May 2017. I was wondering if anyone has applied/ got accepted to Samuel Merritt's Accelerated BSN program? I was wondering if it's a hard school to get into? I am hoping to apply for Fall 2017. My engineering GPA is not that great but I already took the TEAS and did pretty well on that; I also need to complete Micro, A&P, Nutrition, and a couple other nursing pre-reqs.

Any word from Derric? I called the San Mateo office a bunch of times, but no one answers

Nope nothing at all. So nervous!

Hi guys,

I too received the "process update" email, but no news yet. I really want to meet with a counselor to find out when we should hear back, but I don't want to keep bugging them. Its already been 2 weeks!! yikes.

I didn't want to bother them either, which is why I asked if there was an end date by which we should know our app decision, instead of asking if there were any updates on my app specifically! I'm starting to worry, and I want to apply for the Spring cohort but we are supposed to wait. I'm glad we are in this together (although I don't wish the stress of waiting on anyone haha)

Exactly. It would be great to know an end date so we can figure out where we stand. I just made an appointment to speak with a Derric next week. At least I can get some info or find out how to make my app stronger.

So I just spoke to Kirsten on the phone. She was saying that the admission decisions for the fall cohort should be going out mid June sometime, and that we'll have an answer by the end of the month. Keeping my fingers crossed. I didn't specifically ask which cohort though.

Okay thank you! I'm not sure how to proceed now. I might email Derric to set up an appointment, but I don't want to bother him. Hoping for the best for all of us!

OMG end of the month!? Okay, we just have to be a little more patient. I wish they sent them out the same day, it makes us so nervous when others hear news and we don't.

@ameliacrye, I called (510) 869-1550 to make a counseling appointment. It will take you to the student center and ask to make an appointment for the absn program in san mateo and they will let you know the next available appointment.

Thank you!! It makes me super nervous as well. I just set up a counseling appt.

oh great! who did you get an appointment with? maybe we are on the same day.

I'm with Derric on the 13th, but it's a phone interview! I live in San Diego. When is yours?

Oh wow. same day but at 10am in person in san mateo
