Hello all! I am new to Allnurses and I recently decided to change my academic career path from biomedical engineering to nursing. I am (hopefully) going to graduate from San Jose State University in May 2017. I was wondering if anyone has applied/ got accepted to Samuel Merritt's Accelerated BSN program? I was wondering if it's a hard school to get into? I am hoping to apply for Fall 2017. My engineering GPA is not that great but I already took the TEAS and did pretty well on that; I also need to complete Micro, A&P, Nutrition, and a couple other nursing pre-reqs.
Hello everybody,
Congratulations to those who got in, can't wait to meet all those in the SF cohort!! I received the acceptance email on May 25th! I'm excited but really nervous about the cost of the program. It's been awhile since I applied for financial aid. Anybody have any pointers?
Crossing my fingers for those who are still waiting. Looks like many students found out of their acceptance up to a few weeks before the program started. So don't give up!
For those people waiting, did anyone receive an "update email"?
"Applications for the fall 2017 cohorts in Sacramento and San Mateo continue to be reviewed and admission decisions will be released as they are available in the coming days and weeks. Please refrain from contacting our office at this time to inquire about your application status. That will only serve to slow the process down."
From Admissions today!
Hey Roosky,
yeah so I went in and Derric basically said to keep patient and that admissions are still coming out. But he said he didn't know the specifics as to when the last date is to send out acceptances or when the next wave is. He also gave me a few pointers for reapplying next cohort, if (god forbid) i don't get in this time.
So we just have to keep waiting. I also got the update email about the sac cohort approval. I was reading it and i thought it was an acceptance! lol got my hopes up. But i guess that means they can accommodate more people in that area, so ultimately there's more spaces open. Thats good right?
this is the update email i received today
"Earlier this year, we contacted the California Board of Registered Nursing (BRN) to seek approval to increase our enrollment in the Accelerated Bachelor of Science in Nursing program at the Sacramento Campus by continuing to offer the program in fall. We are pleased to announce that the BRN has approved our request and we will be able to enroll a cohort at the Sacramento campus this September.

I received my acceptance letter to the Sacramento Fall ABSN cohort on Monday morning. It sounds like a lot of people are still waiting. fingers crossed everyone here gets good news. Has anyone accepted started a FB page yet? I know I've read on other threads that people have done that before classes start.
