well I think it was mentioned they get about 150 applicants per cycle. This time they got 336 so over double. On top of that COVID has probably affected other factors

It’s so hard not to constantly worry about it. This is my second time applying (not to SMU but programs in general) and my patience is running low LOL

I'm sorry to hear that! I can imagine. May I ask where else you have applied before? And is SMU the only school you have a applied to for this year?

I applied to SFSU, SJSU, and CSU East bay for fall 2020. I am currently waitlisted at CSU East bay. East bay ended up deferring their class to fall 2021 due to covid. I am trying to get in earlier so I applied to SMU and University of San Francisco for Spring 2021.

Oh OK! I wish you good luck. I know the feeling of wanting to get into a program so bad, but I have a feeling you will get in, if not for Spring 2021, it will be Fall 2021. I just think of it 6 more month. Easier said than done, but we really have to be patient. We can't drive ourselves crazy ?

I understand, It’s nerve racking, I applied to SMU only☹️ Since you applied before I want to ask you. How do I know if I get denial ? It is possible I won’t get initial review email ? Or they will send some denial emails? Getting Initial review email is good sign Or there is possibility get rejected at the end after accepting initial review application?

Well this is my first time applying to SMU so I don't really know any additional information about their application process. Everyone will receive an email in November whether you're accepted, denied, or waitlisted. Thats pretty standard. I am still waiting for my initial review email, I think everyone should be receiving one.

Hi!

You’ll get an email either stating there is an issue with your application that you need to fix or your preliminary review has been completed. The preliminary review just checks that you have met all the requirements (GPA, LORs, transcripts, etc.) the next stage is where SMU faculty go through each application and decide if we get in or not!
