Hello! I just wanted to make a thread specifically for those who are applying to the Samuel Merritt ABSN for a spring 2017 start. I'm applying to start in April 2017. It's the only program I'm applying to, as I can't afford more than a year without an income and I really want a BSN and not an MSN at this time. I'm done with my application, just waiting for nursing CAS to verify all my transcripts before I click submit! Currently working full time and taking my last 3 pre recs online. What about you?
So having 17 people in the cohort... I wonder if that means people dropped out? Seems impossible that a Bay Area nursing school wouldn't be able to fill their spots. Either way, it's interesting that they keep extending the deadline for applications (this year and last year). Maybe they aren't getting as many (good) applicants due to how expensive it is?
When I met with the admission lady a few years ago to look into the school she told me that the real hard part of getting in is doing all the pre recs- maybe just a lot of the applicants last year didn't complete the pre recs properly? Like took speech instead of interpersonal comm or the wrong English classes...
Wow 17 for the April cohort? Isn't the max around 30? I remember when I met with Derric too he told me that they would rather have a small cohort with really good applicants than a large cohort with average applicants. Maybe that's why? Also has anyone heard stories of people switching into different cohorts?
