Hello! I just wanted to make a thread specifically for those who are applying to the Samuel Merritt ABSN for a spring 2017 start. I'm applying to start in April 2017. It's the only program I'm applying to, as I can't afford more than a year without an income and I really want a BSN and not an MSN at this time. I'm done with my application, just waiting for nursing CAS to verify all my transcripts before I click submit! Currently working full time and taking my last 3 pre recs online. What about you?
I think Rosa was the admission counselor that worked before Eugenia and she left too! I met Eugenia once or twice and she was very helpful! Although there was one instance when I was trying to confirm a prerequisite fulfillment and she told me the class wouldn't satisfy the requirement. I then emailed Derric who wasn't sure and he ended up contacting the Dean of Admission who said it would. I'm hoping nobody else had this confusion... As for any emails, I haven't gotten anything
I unfortunately had an issue with Eugenia too last year in mid January, I got an email from SMU about an extension for the September deadline of the app, (which I wasn't ready to apply in sept, had just started my pathophysio & pharm class, and was feeling like another year would be better). However, when I got the email in January, I was more ready and had two weeks to turn in an application for a suddenly extended deadline. I immediately emailed Eugenia and gave her my whole run-down. At that point they were using TEAS and said that HESI was ok too since it was about to change. I took a hesi exam in 2011 so I asked if a low score of 76 would still be able to fulfill my application and she said yes, so I immediately pulled all my resources and had a beautiful application put together in like 12 days and changed my whole life plan around, prepping to go to nursing school for those two months just to get an email in late march being told by Eugenia that "my application is incomplete" due to the low score, which was never in any way presented to me and I would have never spent the time embarrassingly telling the world that I'm going to nursing school all of a sudden, then getting shot down due to something that was confirmed as acceptable BEFORE starting an application. I obviously could have spent April studying for a TEAS test and retaken it in may and scrambled before nursing school, but that didn't seem practical. My time in April/march before nursing school should obviously be spent preparing the other aspects of my life and mentally prepare. It was such a frustrating period but I believe I wasn't meant to go to school this year and not the last, as I now work on a med-surf floor and have learned a lot from the nurses!!
Nothing yet- altho one more woman from my patho class got in! she had been admitted to medical school some years ago, and I guess checked her mail last night and it was there, I think still from yesterday morning. Stay positive!!
Did you know you are supposed to fill out your FAFSA before recieiving your acceptance? Everyone who hasn't already done it should do it today.
