Samuel Merritt Spring 2017 ABSN

Published

Hello! I just wanted to make a thread specifically for those who are applying to the Samuel Merritt ABSN for a spring 2017 start. I'm applying to start in April 2017. It's the only program I'm applying to, as I can't afford more than a year without an income and I really want a BSN and not an MSN at this time. I'm done with my application, just waiting for nursing CAS to verify all my transcripts before I click submit! Currently working full time and taking my last 3 pre recs online. What about you?

missmeyling- I only applied to this program, and only for June because I am still doing prereqs this semester, so couldn't do April.

And do not worry too much! (I know easier said than done) I was super worried on Friday and freaking out. I think it might be randomized and doing a handful each morning or something.

Duke702, thank you for your supportive email. I think I am going to stop checking my email and just go about my day (easier sad than done, lol). Congrats again!

They said that every application was assigned to a counselor, and the counselors started to receive applications back from faculty on Friday, so they are processing them and sending them out as they become available from the faculty. So depending on what counselor has your application and when they receive it back from faculty, we will hear throughout the week. This information was provided in person by the ladies in the office at the Oakland campus.

Thanks for the info. I applied to Oakland's May start and have not heard anything so it's a relief to know they are still rolling out acceptances.

Yes, thank you for your information. Lets all keep positive and keep our fingers crossed.

Thanks for the info Crmclaug!

Thanks for the info!!

I completely agree duke702. Stay positive everyone! It would be so much easier if we completely knew what their process was for making the selections... I'm not even sure if SMU knows their selection process. Seems like they're just working through a pile of papers and each day at 8am they accept the people who they went through the day before?

Thank you so much for the info. Goodluck everyone! We're all in this togther. We got this!

Thank you whoever went down to the office and got the scoop! I have just a tiny bit more info to add: in my current patho class, 8 of us applied for the Oakland May cohort. Of the 8 of us, only 1 got a letter today. She told us that in her letter, they are asking for a commitment within 10 days. So even if we don't hear this week, in 10 or 11 days they might send out more acceptance letters.

PS does anyone know why Euginia Berdali isn't working there anymore? I loved her! (admissions counselor)

That makes me feel a bit better. Where are you taking Patho? I'm taking it through UCLA extension right now and am not impressed :(

I don't know why she's not there anymore-I loved her too!

Good- I'm glad that I brought some relief. I am taking it at Merritt College- a community college in Oakland named after the same Merritt as Samuel Merritt University and Lake Merritt. Must have been quite a guy. I like our class- hard, but fun.
