2010 Samuel Merritt Oakland ELMSN-FNP applicants?

Hey all:

I've been reading the forums for a while and I hadn't seen any discussion specific to the SMU ELMSN-FNP program in Oakland. I'm getting ready to submit my application...anybody else out there? I'd love to chat with other folks!

I'm surprised they added another interview too! They kept emphasizing that they wish they could accept all of us and would be happy to have all of us, but unfortunately there are just not enough seats. So I also wouldn't assume that they just didn't like the candidate pool (although that was my first thought too!:uhoh3:) My interview yesterday only had 13 people as well. Maybe they're just trying to accommodate more interviewees? Who knows! Good luck everyone!

* for those that have already been accepted, did you guys get your acceptance packet yet? They told me I was gonna get it in the mail a couple of days after they called me...but that was two weeks ago...

WillMak, my interview didn't go as well as I had hoped =(. I guess we'll see though! Thanks for asking.

Congrats again on your acceptance! It's a great accomplishment!

i interviewed sat 2/6 (the first interview date) & there were 18 ppl including myself.

for the early admits..i got an email from karena (the admission counselor) last wed, saying that the acceptance packet was on its way. finally received it in the mail on sat. i live in sf though so i'm sure u'll get yours soon.

Ah thanks healthy chick. Karena e-mailed you to tell you the packet was on the way? Were you wondering where the packet was and e-mailed her also? I hope they didn't change their minds :eek: !!

omg, that was exactly how i felt while i was waiting for the acceptance packet. wanting the offer for early acceptance to be set in stone..hehe, writing i mean, since the call after the interview seemed too good to be true. i guess i was just paranoid & u r too right now. no, i didn't contact karena ab the acceptance packet before receiving her email. hopefully, u'll get in by the end of the wk.

I was actually in the Interview pool from the Sacramento Campus for Spring 2010 and got waitlisted! :( But I did receive an email last night to invite me for an interview on the 5th for the Oakland campus.

Willmak, I saw that you got an early acceptance! Congrats!! Did you feel more comfortable going through the interview process a second time?

Nope I am Sacramento. I wish I could get into the Sac program, but I am willing to take acceptance to Oakland! :)

I bet we have another month till we hear back from them since they have one more interview date. That makes me nervous, I was one of the earlier groups to interview. Has anyone from the other interviews have a different timeline they will send out letters. My interviewees said midmarch, but that seems unlikely.

I read in this thread you can defer to their other campus if you get waitlisted? how does that work?

And congrats to everyone who got early admittance ^_^

Hey Cecile, it might not be a month till you hear back. The packet I got with their letter of intent to register is due by march 10th...so I think there's a good chance that people who they want to fillout their initial 26 spots might get notified before that date. Did you interview on 2/8/10 btw?

I defered from the Sacramento campus to the Oakland Campus. They will forward your application to the other school and you will start the process over with an interview as you did before during the new cohort.

At the interview this weekend they said that they plan to make decisions the week of March 8th (since this Friday is the last interview). They hope to send letters out by Friday, March 12 so we should hear around March 15th.

Hey everyone. I just wanted to give you some info...hopefully not to drive you crazy. I think it's a good thing that they added another date. They had said that there were a lot of applicants this year. So hang in there!

I was with Will and got early acceptance call that day also. I received my packet this weekend, and I have to notify them by March 10th. So, I have no idea if it's the same across the board. Maybe they want to know if the early acceptance ppl want admittance so they know how many spots are available...? But, I am currently looking for an extension because I'm waiting to hear from another school. If my spot opens up, I will definitely tell you guys.
