2010 Samuel Merritt Oakland ELMSN-FNP applicants?

I've been reading the forums for a while and I hadn't seen any discussion specific to the SMU ELMSN-FNP program in Oakland. I'm getting ready to submit my application...anybody else out there? I'd love to chat with other folks!

I must say all this waiting teaches me patience..haha..

Hi all. Congrats to those done with interviews and early acceptances! I know there are two interviews left. Have they notified everyone that has a spot already? Anyone out there that has an upcoming interview?

I have my interview at the end of February - can anyone give any details about what the interview is like, how to prepare or what to expect? Just trying to get my bearings! I applied for the FNP track. Thanks and good luck to all!

Lauren and Cali congrats!

Does anyone remember if we were required to fulfill a semester working as an RN first after our licensure? According to the site:

"This program begins with the courses and experiences required for licensure in California as a registered nurse. Following licensure (completed during the fifth semester), students work as an RN for one semester and then resume coursework."

I would love to get some RN experience after licensed, but due to the poor outlook on jobs right now, if we can't find RN work for a semester, is our program/coursework put on hold until we do?

I remember during the interview, they said that because of the economy right now, they won't require their students to look for jobs as an RN for that one semester. However, students are still encouraged to do so if they can find one.

hey everyone! i just found this forum while browsing thru the net. thankfully, i'll be at the interview next saturday as well! can't wait to meet everyone! how's everyone preparing for this interview?

Are they still calling people for interviews? I was waitlisted for the Sacramento campus and had my application deferred to Oakland and still haven't heard anything back yet. Is the Oakland campus more competitive than Sac?
