2010 Samuel Merritt Oakland ELMSN-FNP applicants?

Hey all:

I've been reading the forums for a while and I hadn't seen any discussion specific to the SMU ELMSN-FNP program in Oakland. I'm getting ready to submit my application...anybody else out there? I'd love to chat with other folks!

Are they still calling people for interviews? I was waitlisted for the Sacramento campus and had my application deferred to Oakland and still haven't heard anything back yet. Is the Oakland campus more competitive than Sac?

Hey Roxy, according to the thread some people got some calls for interviews this past week. Tho Oakland school is a little bit more competative than the sacramento school. You could always just shoot an e-mail to Karen Lane ([email protected]) to see if they are still calling people. Good luck!

hey everyone...for those who've already had their interviews, how professional should we dress? is wearing a suit too much? or do most people wear suits?

Hey clam! you can wear a suit if you'd like, but some people just dressed business casual. I went into mine with a dress shirt, tie and black slacks. Good luck!

FINALLY! I got an email for an interview on 3/5. I was starting to feel sorry for myself having started this thread and not getting an interview.

Those of you who are still waiting to hear...there is still hope for us!

Based on previous years' posts this seems to be typical. If they don't find exactly what they're looking for, they wont accept "just anybody" and continue to schedule more interviews. Or it might just be that there are a lot more applicants this year than in years past so they just may need more dates to interview everyone. I wouldn't assume just because you were interviewed first vs. last that it is any indication of how high they rank you.

For those who have interviewed already, how many people were in your group? I've heard 30 is average.

There was only 13 in mine..I had heard there were usually 20 or so but maybe cuz it was shorter notice..how many ppl showed up to the 22nd? For those who interviewed that day?

Hey guys!

I'm surprised they added another interview too! They kept emphasizing that they wish they could accept all of us and would be happy to have all of us, but unfortunately there are just not enough seats. So I also wouldn't assume that they just didn't like the candidate pool (although that was my first thought too!:uhoh3:) My interview yesterday only had 13 people as well. Maybe they're just trying to accommodate more interviewees? Who knows! Good luck everyone!
