Hey all:
I've been reading the forums for a while and I hadn't seen any discussion specific to the SMU ELMSN-FNP program in Oakland. I'm getting ready to submit my application...anybody else out there? I'd love to chat with other folks!

Congrats you two! :) I wonder who was also with me at this past Saturday's interview? I guess the rest of us will have to wait until Mid-March to hear from them! Oh, the suspense

Yes. Don't assume that any of the exercises are just arbitrary. They are trying to see how you work with people, how you think, what you're interested in. There aren't a lot of opportunities to shine in this situation, so you have to try. Be genuine, they are very warm people. Don't be scared. It's a pretty relaxed environment. Everyone will be nervous, so it helps to make friends early. You will be working with the other applicants a lot throughout the interview. Just show them that you want to be there.Good Luck!
Good Luck!
Hey Jessica, were you the first person I talked with?
Hey Clam just be yourself! The directors create a warm environment so no need to be nervous!
same here! but they do have their reasons for conducting the interview the way that they did.
Yea..hopefully it was more than meets the eye..I tripped up for sure from time to time..sighhh..we don't hear till mid March? Oh the wait..haha
And be prepared to pay 18 dollars for 3 hours of parking in the garage at Summit. hahawow. rip off.
wow. rip off.
i thought they arrange free parking at elms X hawthorne. they did for the saturday interview.
what! Damn I wish I knew that earlier. I didn't receive any notice for free parking...but 18 dollars for parking seems so cheap for the money we'll be spending in the next 3 years...

Congrats Will & Jessica! Looks like we'll be classmates this fall! I got a call from Suzanne at 1:19 pm Saturday 2/6, about 15 mins after the campus tour. Talk about no waiting!! It was totally unexpected & surreal--kinda felt like I won the lotto in a sense Life changing moment..I was crossing the Bay Bridge & fumbling for my wallet for toll fee when she told me when I should be receiving my acceptance letter in the mail. In my moment of utter surprise/shock & distraction, I didn't make out what she said. Do you guys know when we should be getting it? Hopefully soon, cuz I need tangible evidence that the call did happen!
2 interviews done, 2 left, the last being on the 27th. Wonder why they spread them out like that. Anyways, good luck to everyone!

HAHahaha. I wish I knew about the parking! Maybe they could only make that arrangement on the weekend.
Will: Yes, I was the first person that chatted you up.
Healthy Chick: Congrats! It's very surreal. And kinda awesome. I have an interview tomorrow, and it take a lot of the pressure off. I don't know yet if I'll be going to Samuel Merritt, it depends on how things pan out in the next week. But I will keep you guys posted. I hope more of you get calls! Try not to stress.
Healthy Chick:
lol I know what you mean....some tangible proof that I didn't just make it up. :)
I think the early acceptance letters come out soon. next week or so. Hopefully, not before I get back from Seattle. My husband will have to open it and tell me what it says.
I can't remember what she said generally about letters. It was at the beginning of the day, and I was very much in my own head. I'm assuming early March. Will, do you remember what Teri said?
Goodluck on your intwrview manana Jessica!
I doubt at this point there will be anymore calls..haha..but I guess we don't know for sure..
Goodluck to everyone whohas interviews coming up!
