Samuel Merritt ELMSN FNP FALL 2020 Oakland

Nursing Students School Programs

Updated:   Published

Hello fellow applicants, alumni, and SMU associates,

Can anyone provide insight into the application timeline for SMU's ELMSN-FNP program intended to start Fall 2020 (Oakland cohort)? The deadline to submit applications through NursingCAS was December 1, 2019.

-When should we expect correspondence to interview or for denial?

-Are interviews 1:1 or mixed, or both?

-When do final acceptances usually go out?

Thank you all.

Congratulations @tiffanyk and @yfarias! No news on my end yet?

Same! I think we still have a chance. It seems like in the past they sent interview invites out multiple times. Let’s hope that’s the case! Hoping for some good news early next week!

Happy Sunday! I just got an email for an interview. Can't believe they sent it on a Sunday! I am thrilled, and wishing everyone out there the best as well. I am scheduled for Tuesday, March 3 at 230pm. Hope to meet some of you there ?

@aheld Congratulations! When you reply to the email, do they confirm it right away or what happens?

The initial interview email contains a link to “register” for each session. Once I registered for the session of my choice, I received a second email confirming the time. It was automated. I didn’t get any info on what the interview will be like/any info on written essay, etc which I’ve seen in other cohort forums. It said to plan to be on campus for a few hours. Hope that helps!

Cool!

Hi all, since I applied to SMU for previous rotations, I got a phone call interview scheduled on 2/26 instead of having to come in-person. Good luck and I hope everyone hears back soon! From my previous experiences, they do send invitations in waves.

Good to know, @jackiewackie44 that the interview invitations come in waves. Congrats on a phone interview!

CONGRATS everyone! That's awesome.

Does anyone know if they would notify us via email if not being selected for an interview? Or is it just assumed that if no invite has been extended in the next few days, we've been declined?

Thanks in advance!

Hey @jackiewackie44 could you tell us a little about how your group interview went the last time you interviewed?

In my experience, if you don't get an interview invite, most likely they're just gonna send you a rejection email within the next month after all interviews are done and acceptances are sent out. But you still have a couple weeks to hear about interviews!

Interviews are held in group sessions, how many people depends on how many have signed up. I interviewed twice before and both my groups varied in size. Had some ice breaker questions to start and to get to know the other applicants. Then, we got paired up and were asked to answer a role-play/scenario question. After that, we were divided into bigger groups and had a debate based on another scenario. They also asked more broad questions throughout the interview where anyone could answer as well. You don't need to bring anything to the interview
