Hello fellow applicants, alumni, and SMU associates,

Can anyone provide insight into the application timeline for SMU's ELMSN-FNP program intended to start Fall 2020 (Oakland cohort)? The deadline to submit applications through NursingCAS was December 1, 2019.

-When should we expect correspondence to interview or for denial?

-Are interviews 1:1 or mixed, or both?

-When do final acceptances usually go out?

No notice yet! I'm anxiously refreshing my inbox, checking my spam, and checking SMU's site for any status updates (link above). I'm stressing!!!!!!!!

Hey y’all, just an update: I got an email today saying that my app has completed the preliminary review! They also said to avoid calling the admissions office since it can slow them down, and they said to email if you had any questions. Also be sure to check spam and junk for their emails just in case!

FYI, when I applied for previous cycles, I received interview invites via email and/or phone call, so be sure to have your voicemails set up just in case!

Yes, I got it without contacting them first. I was primarily just checking my portal for updates! My status just says that my application was submitted.

Does anybody know: Does SMU only send out the "completed preliminary review" email to the people they like & might invite to interviews OR does everybody who applied get this email eventually & then the SMU committees pick and choose?

This is my first time applying but I believe everyone gets that preliminary review email - it has nothing to do with whether or not they like you as a candidate or not. They may still be in the process of sending those out, but I personally would recommend checking in with them if you haven’t received it yet ( or maybe by the end of next week)

@anisap I meant the preliminary email that @laifalove references, above. It seems to be a school-generated email that updates applicants on their status (in review, complete, denial). I have not received this information.

Just FYI: There is another thread somebody else started for the people who applied for Case Management. It seems some of the people on there have already received interview invites. Who knows if they are done w/ CM or still going through applications.

Case Management usually has less applicants than FNP, so it makes sense. At least we now know, they are going through applications...

Ooooh thanks for sharing! Good to know they’re starting to send out emails.. hopefully FNP applicants will get emails soon also.. a girl can dream ?
