Hi Everyone! I know this is a bit early but I will be applying to SMU for the ABSN program of Summer 2014 (Oakland Campus). I am currently finishing my Bachelor's degree in health science at CSUEB right now and I will be done in the fall. I just wanted to start a discussion on this topic and get to know some people who are applying to the program for summer 2014. Let's get to know each other, share our stats, etc.
Here are my estimated stats that they look at:
Last 60 units GPA: 3.5
Pre req GPA: 3.4
Teas: 83 but I am re taking it in a couple of weeks
Experience: I am a CNA and Med tech currently. I volunteer at John Muir hospital and at American Red Cross.
I hope to hear from some prospective applicants soon!
Should we start a FB group for our cohort? I know some of the last cohorts have done this and they also met beforehand to see how everyone will be able to manage school for the next year. It is a good source of support and could be beneficial during crucial moments during our year of nursing school!!!
Yes a FB group would definitely be beneficial for our cohort in order to help pass information along and reach out to one another for questions. Does anyone know what cohort number our class will be? I am also looking for a room but have never actually been to San Mateo. Any suggestions?
Congratulations to those who have been accepted! Oakland cohort, I'm assuming they'll notify you in February, and San Mateo (June) maybe late February or early March. Just a prediction though based on old forums. Good luck to those who are still waiting =]
Starting a facebook group for April cohort sounds like a great idea! I don't think we're given any more information about our cohort until we pay the deposit fee and get registered? From what I see on the academic calendar, new student orientation for April cohort is 3/13-3/14. It would be great to have the group started so we can start to get to know each other and help one another out in this process. I'm already thinking about loans, moving to sf for a better commute, & getting prepared overall.
